Atmosphere 2024/25

Many of those making accusations on here are the same ones who claim that ticket prices make up little to nothing in relation to the clubs income and thus claim that prices could be reduced with little to no impact on PSR etc. If that's the case, why would selling on a.few thousand tickets to opposing fans being of any financial (or otherwise) benefit to the club. Worst case scenario there is either poor governance process around ticket sales, or some rogue internal person(s) are making a profit, which although terrible, is not the same as claiming some exec level conspiracy at the club
Non City fans in the City end :

Makes it a safety risk
Causes friction between fans
Stops City fans getting tickets for the game and stops the atmosphere building
You are right the £12.25 bn tv deal means match day revenue is less important
Sell those tickets to City fans at normal prices then

I've long complained about the atmosphere in the Etihad, because, as an across-the-sea fan who has never visited the stadium and can only watch on TV, our fans always seem to be unenthusiastic.

And yet, when watching away games, our fans are very vocal and come across on the broadcast loud and clear.

Which leads me to think - is the home atmosphere actually fantastic, except that the acoustics of our stadiums and the microphone positions used by broadcasters - gives the false impression that enthusiasm in home games isn't accurately represented and seems misleadingly muted? I think so.

I’m not sure what your point is with that post. Fact is that no-one is claiming there’s some elaborate conspiracy - just that the club are doing what they want and making decisions that are fucking over long-standing fans in favour of JCLs and tourists just so they can make an extra few quid. A classic case in point is the Real Madrid home CL semi final in 2023. Instead of staggering ticket sales to members who had attended matches in the past, they invited anyone to apply for a membership which gave them as much chance as a legacy fan of many years of getting a ticket in the ensuing online bloodbath, even if that person had never attended a single City game previously. No conspiracy, but it was a ****’s trick of the highest order.

I’m not being funny but there’s a huge whiff around some of your posts to the point that they come across as you shilling for the club.

I thought for the RM semi final you had to have attend 3 CL games over the 18 months before. I'm sure that's why we couldn't get any.

Yet we didn't qualify to get tickets, only your ticket history over the last 18 months not 40 years counted.
I understand your point but the club doesn't have records going back 40 years. The best you can get is attendances at the Etihad, (almost 22 years) and the points you were awarded when we moved which was based on ST ownership over the previous 5 years.
The club was in a tricky position for the RM home game but should have done much better. We beat Bayern four weeks before the RM game and the club should have known there would be huge interest in the second leg if we got a decent result in Madrid. Consequently they should have made tickets available to fans with purchase history as soon as Bayern were out of the way. - And those ST holders who turn their backs on the competition should have been first in the queue as their STs demonstrate some degree of loyalty.
I'd love to know the sales pattern for the game. Anyone who suddenly got interested after we drew in Madrid contributed to the problem as there was only one week between the games.
However, there were groups of three or four RM fans all around the ground implying either families didn't try to get tickets, the club were selling to anybody to get a full house, or ticket agencies were buying memberships and tickets and selling for a huge profit.

That was last season's quarter-final I think. The season before when we played them in the semi was a free-for-all where all members - new and old - had an equal opportunity to purchase.

I'm not talking about match day revenue. That has been covered in detail.

I'm talking about tickets going to away fans in the home ends when they should be going to City fans.

As for rogue employee or employees selling that quantity of home tickets constantly over a season and the club not knowing who it is and stopping it, do me a favor. That's laughable.

If that was the case, which it isn't, the club and the 'ticket compliance manager' would have been all over that by now.

Let's see what happens if City reach the knockout stages of the CL this season.

There's absolutely no good atmospheres in the Premier League at all anymore and that's being honest.

Going to away games, Alot of the time the home fans are terrible and that includes Anfield, They sing You'll Never Walk Alone at the start and that's it, It's a complete myth.

Clubs owners are getting what they want and that's different people at games every weekend or midweek or whatever it is, They don't want regulars anymore. They want people coming from all around the world so they'll get the Stadium Tour which ends at the Club Shop...

At The Eithad the South Stand really do try to get atmospheres going at games, Unfortunately most times the crowd only really get going when Dippers and Rags come to our place.

I can assure you our home atmosphere is not fantastic and there is no false impression of that.
