I think he is being over managed. When he first came he was raw and unpredictable, had a bag of tricks and always managed to get a shot off.

Now he gets the ball and he has five conversations going on in his head. He has become risk averse. You saw how long Pep was coaching Grealish before he came on. Literally pecking his head for 5 minutes. The result of this is a player that doesn't use their own instinct anymore, they always play it safe.

To be fair, teams are much quicker to double up on him, and he regularly gets three players marking him. Anyone who tries one to one can't cope - as we saw yesterday, when he forced one yellow, and should have forced two, within minutes of coming on.

He's arguably the best dribbler in the world, but nobody can beat three players when they're happily sitting with the other seven outfield players in a low block behind them, so it starts to look like the old 'Pep had ruined him' trope.

I don’t think he played well on Sunday but I think the way we played was significantly responsible.

By not playing the ball quickly, through the lines, or switching play from one side to the other (Pep alluded to this in the post match interview) he always faced two defenders in front of him, so naturally he had to keep looking to pass inside, negating his biggest asset, to isolate and beat his man.

He’s the one player who creates a bit of excitement. Yes he’s inconsistent but compared to our other options at least he has pace and brings the ball forward. He does need to track back but then none of our starting 11 have been great at it this season. This for me has been the worst aspect of the season, not the defeats but the lack of memorable games, so many boring games, particularly at home.

That sounds like a Southampton fan talking about Tyler Dibling.

Doku is an epiotme of how far the club have allowed the quality to decline because we have gone from having 20 goals, 20 assists a season players like Mahrez and 30 goal a season contributor wingers like Sterling to players like Doku. Of whom we are counting his runs up the pitch as a quality.

He has one more season to prove himself at City.

He's like a hybrid of Traore and Saint Maximan.

He's absolutely not at the required level. He's had one good game against West Ham last season.

That's about it.

Dunno mate, if you're going to pick a single game, Bournemouth would probably be the one last season.

Personally like him and think he's actually exciting. Needs to improve but at least he's interesting

Comparing Doku to Sterling and Mahrez isn’t fair as both had premier league experience, mahrez a substantial amount. I’m not saying he is or may get to this level but writing him off at this point is pathetic. It would be easier to say who has played consistently well.

I criticize our wingers a lot, they need to provide lot more end product but have to say Pep tactically needs to fix things so winger dont need to beat set parked buses but we need to attack with speed which creates number of issues for defenders.

we are so slow in building that opponents can completely plan to reduce risk and spaces.

we hardly ever play in Haaland even when he has a bit of space to run or Marmoush but we do it even less with out wingers. sterling, Mahrez was sometimes released quick and they didnt have to beat a defender other than with speed onto a great through ball which then they scored or managed to cross it in to someone arriving deeper like Gundo or KDB or Foden.
all made by a quick attack.

we rarely have those anymore and its a tactical issue. imagine Bernardo doing a through ball to Doku to sprint in some space in some rare counter chance.
impossible, we slow down, turn back, pass back, wait for opposite defence to get in place and then slow build up again.
if Pep wouldnt want this he would change it but he aint changing it.

Everyone keeps waiting for the penny to drop with him but its the same still almost every single game. Looks like he should be adding 10 goals and 10 assists a season but he's far off that and doesnt appear to be progressing.

And he only has one more year because there are even bigger issues elsewhere and it can’t all be resolved in one window - it’s a 2 year job. If we’d not neglected the squad planning of late, Doku would be on my list to sell this summer.

You can't be serious. a world class dribbler would be in full control of the ball, this lad never is. £55 million, good Grief.

In pretty much every list of successful dribblers he's at or near the top. If he's still got the ball when he's beaten a player, and he regularly does that as well as anyone else about, then he had control of the ball. If your suggestion is that he's lucky to still have the ball, as he wasn't in control of it, then he should just sit at home and play the lottery, because his luck apparently beats nearly every other world class dribbler.

Other areas of his game are nowhere near this level, but it's hardly controversial to say he's one of the best dribblers, and has a say in being the best.

That’s utter bollocks to be honest to say he’s only had one good game. Agree if he doesn’t improve your first sentence could be correct

He’s definitely a world class dribbler. Just the next bit after that can look a bit league 1 at times

He's a flash in the pan. We've released better wingers from the academy than Doku, and Jesus Navas was more effective even at 37/38.

His name shouldn't even be thought of when mentioning SWP, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling or Riyad Mahrez.

I can't believe fans' expectations have actually dropped so low to think Doku and Savinho are 'City quality'.

Doku, probably won’t get there but i’m absolutely convinced Savinho will.

Approaching 75 games for us and his return is

12 goals and 18 assists.

Poor figures for a wide forward.

A bit pointless to beat a man and then do the sum total of fuck all with the ball. Anyway not the answer to the wide left position.

He's terrible for the knees, up in excitement followed by down in disappointment.
If you widen your feet in your seat and cross your arms you can however turn it into a useful bodyweight squat. Remember explode up and lower gently.
Breathing is important a quick excited in take of air up and a slow "for fucks sake everytime" on the way down.
