Golf Thread

It starts to warm up on Monday in the north west so we might be good to go for the middle of the week, fingers crossed.

I love this time of the golf season.
This is the year I get my 20 handicap down to 16.
I can feel it.
Hey - I might even practice for once.

Got a game tomorrow, first one this year because of the weather, hopefully I'll have forgotten all my swing faults.

Been playing through the winter when the weather has allowed taking advantage of some temporarily shorter holes to shave fractions off my handicap.

I’m about to upgrade my membership for the next couple of months so I can play in seniors competitions. Not much lost if I decide it’s not for me and go back to social golf. I like the thought of being able to play other courses.

Meanwhile I like the look of the G440 irons and trying to think of a justification for getting some

The course we play posted pics on Friday, still had snow on the greens and were frozen underneath. Thankfully the weekend had warmed up considerably with temps in high teens. Today we have a high of 20° so we're going to venture out. Weather dictates here so haven't been able play to in about seven weeks. Not hoping for much but happy to be getting out there.

Been out for a couple of 9 holers - enjoyed it (even though I still swing from the occasional sublime to the frequent ridiculous).

Got a charity golf tournament coming up the end of May(?) which gives me something to practice towards so I don't make a complete arse of myself.

Learn to drive properly and keep away from the 3 putt you moron........... :-)

A 20 handicapper won the 9 holes stableford yesterday with 26 points. A single figure has zero chance these days with so many people gaming the system.

And that's "just" prize money, I'm guessing. Nothing about sponsorships, endorsements, payments from tournament organisers for playing in their tournaments, etc etc. I'm in the wrong job!

Not all of us high handicappers are gaming the system. I put a general play card in yesterday where I was 21 points after 9. A disastrous back 9 later I’d limped to 33. That’s why I’m a high handicap

21 after nine is a lot more plausible than 26 after nine for a 20 handicapper though. Yes it can still happen but the chances are incredibly low.

Other side of the coin, sort of, just noticed in the senior knock outs, first time I’ve entered as a 26.5 handicapper I’m giving ten shots to my opponent! He better not be good!

Final Open qualifying is at West Lancs GC next Tuesday July 1st. It's a great day out watching golf with no ropes and it's free entry.
