I dont think this was an easy decision for the club at all, but they need to focus on blooding and bringing in the next generation of City legends. I hate it, but I get it. He will be sorely missed.
Of course it wasn’t. Last week KDB, just wasn’t himself, his passing and his shooting wasn’t quite right. After the match yesterday he was interviewed and said he felt fit and good. The difference is he looked much better and ran better. Now, a question. If those that make the decisions can give a 33 year old slow Gundogan a one year with another year option, why not give another 33 year old who can change games at the flick of a switch, the same?

Maybe because KDB has a 400k year contract and we desperately need to change? The rebuild needs to start now and it’s easier to move him than Gundogan since Pep loves to play Gundogan and extend this contract that way + KDB has been consistently injured the last years. Yes he played good yesterday in the second half but overall you could see he is not nearly as fit as Salah and VVD are. Liverpool might shot themselves into the foot anyways. Can see Salah lasting a year max and a huge drop in the 2nd. VVD as a CB is another case though.

Honestly, because I think the club will have learned a lot from the Gundo situation (who was also great yesterday)....you should never go back and all that.

Neither Gundo or Kev are going to be able to do "it" at the very top level consistently anymore and I think that has been recognized. Would love Kev to stay (much reduced role) and let Gundo go to Turkey for a year or two before he hangs it up, but I just dont see it. Interesting times ahead.

I know. It is absolutely baffling me. I luv Gundo, but KDB is the man. OG.

Some strange decisions lately by the club.

Can’t help but wonder how this season and last season would have gone for Kevin if he had just gotten the surgery for his hamstring immediately after the treble season instead of putting it off and injuring it again game 1 against Burnley. He’s had other smaller injuries since then but maybe those aren’t as frequent if he had just taken his time to recover after the treble season.

IF city make champions league, win the fa cup and get back to our best (play like we did yesterday), is there any little possible chance he goes back on his word and stays or is that it? Tbh I’m just trying to find a little bit of hope!!

Giving gundo an extra year will be a massive mistake as aoart from the odd good game hd has been poor but try telling pep his as he is blinkered to him .

He wouldn’t be offered the same amount of money though would he? For l’pool, who it seems have agreed with Salah, some large weekly salary, who has gone through his career almost injury free so extremely lucky. Whereas KDB has had some form of injury most seasons with City which takes its toll on the body. Are we are assuming this is the reason for not offering KDB a contract? Anyway, if he can keep fit until the end of the season, I for one hope a reconsideration is ‘on the table’ as what seems to be the in thing to be said.

Then that's the perfect way to bow out - when you think they still have a bit more to give.

At the start of the 23/24 season, I predicted he would get 20 goals and 20 assists in the league, only for him to get injured on the first day.

Better to go out on a high like Kompany and Gundogan had done.

You've got a point. People thought we were crazy to get rid of Aguero and look what happened there. Not saying or even hoping for that kind of tragedy to repeat itself, I still well up thinking about that interview aguero gave when he decided to retire, but ultimately city made the right call.

Whatever happens, we move forward and thank our legends for their service.

Haha most these players are not fit to lace Kevin’s boots.
Barclays brigade fears someone will take the spot of their beloved Gerrard Lampard Scholes Keane Viera which they don’t like

Even if someone scores 1000 pl games he still would be called better than Henry bcoz these guys don’t want to acknowledge new gen legends

They basically want United Liverpool Chelsea and Arsenal players exclusively in all time 11 forever

Sentiment's reared it's head again I see. Sods law says Kev was going to have a swansong before he departed. People seem to think he'll replicate his showing from Saturday for next season for us, if he stayed. Possible but highly unlikely. I'll repeat what's been said before, he's been the best but the time is probably right to leave.

Definitely time to go, but I'm just so delighted to be able to enjoy some great last performances - much better he leaves us with some fresh memories and goes with a bang and not a whimper.

Best player I've seen play for city bar none.
