Dangerous Dogs

I was on St annes dunes/ beach once with my friends Jack Russell (soft as fuck runs away from poodles)

Bloke with a big Alsation which was loose running about .....Dog comes bounding over and starts to bark and threaten said Jack Russell. I had to pick the dog up and this **** just watches from a distance.

My language was choice and he got the message but what a ****. If it had been just him and me and no dogs he'd have been eating sand and pebbles.
If there were no dogs what would you have been angry with him about?

There's a big fuck off mutt just moved in our street. When i go past with my little mutt the neighbour mutt goes mad, banging on the window trying to get through. It will get a shock if it ever does..

That's always had me wondering, I don't have a Dog not because I don't like them but because I am a weird Cat freak who just likes looking after Cats.

Does it worry you when your Dog walks up to a big fuck off Dog in the park or wherever you walk it?

My worry with my present dog is how he reacts and not others. Any dog, regardless of size can set him off so he's on short lead if others about.
We see the same dogs on morning walk and they all know each other. Most of them he ignores now but the smallest mini chihuahua he goes for every morning and has for the last few years.

A Horse would kick the shit out of that surely? Am I missing something ? it looks like a Scottie Dog.

It does at first glance but it could easilly be a moody kerry blue looking at the snozzle...in which case a leap onto the horses head would not be outrageous, neither would a powerful bite.. too powerful for a single human to deal with ( without a handy pitchfork)

Looks more like a jagdterrier...on second look.

Sounds like the sort of thing that would happen if someone up there bought one thinking they were pets...

I know this is not strictly what the thread is about but it still fits and I've got to get a rent off.

I'm sick to death of people out with their dogs off lead. In particular, small dogs.

For context, I've got a staffie. She's as timid as they come, scared of her own shadow, never shown any aggressive behaviour towards another dog, she's relatively happy for other dogs to approach her where she'll have a little sniff then 99 times out of a hundred she loses interest in them within a minute and wants to carry on with our walk, the 1 other time she might have a genuine interest and they'll have a friendly interaction. she listens to me and has good recall, she's also 12 and ive had her since a pup so I couldn't have any more confidence in her, that being said, I still keep her on lead as a responsible owner. I know what she could potentially do and I'm respectful of other dogs and their needs.

When we are out on our walks, theres always loads of dogs around, but there's an increasing amount of small dog owners with theirs off lead. they clearly have very limited recall over them too given that they're screaming at them constantly as it's doing as it pleases and far too many of them are naturally aggressive little fuckers towards other dogs too.

On our walk today I'm walking my dog across a busy park we cut across the pathways to avoid others and as we pass a tree, a tiny little thing comes sprinting towards my dog in a somewhat aggressive manner, owners are sat under the tree and don't seem to realise at first. The little dog gets right up to my dog and pauses as it eyes her up, my dog is just cautiously checking it out too then It snarls at my dog completely unprovoked and just goes for her, I think i kind of sensed it and premptively pulled my dog away and shouted at the other dog within a split second of it going for her which thankfully scared the little fucker, their owners had realised it had bolted as this was happening and also shouted it back and it went scampering back after i scared it.

No harm was done but that was only because my dog is trained and didnt react to the aggressiveness at all. Had she reacted which wouldnt have been unreasonable given its behaviour, she no doubt could have torn the little dog apart. I was livid as not only is the irresponsible behaviour of the owner putting their own aggressive dog in danger but it also could have made my own dog hurt or even worse case sceanrio potentially kill another and id have felt absolutely terrible had my own dog been the cause of that.

The women did apologise to me and it seemed genuine in fairness to her so I bit my lip just accepted it and carried on walking rather than laying into her as I wanted to. Regardless of its size, just keep your fucking dogs on leads if you're not in a secluded area, it's not hard and that applies doubly so if your dog is aggressive.

That's about the long and the short of it really.
Yep, can't get my head around why it's not the law.

Obviously would be difficult to enforce but at least make it illegal, you'd at least stop most sensible people having their dogs off the lead.

Our dog is 6 soon, and we've always just avoided busy areas, and tend to book him onto a private field now and then; he also goes to a daycare once a week and has done since a pup.

My chest tightens up when we go somewhere that has dogs off a lead, sometimes it's difficult if you want to have a walk around a nice place like lyme park etc.

Never actually had any sort of altercation but for me the cons completely outweigh the pros, I genuinely don't know what I'd do if something happened, the guilt would completely bury me.

2 weeks ago travellers were outside my daughters primary school with an xl bully off its lead, man I was so angry but didn't want to show it incase the dog picked up on it. All I could think of was the urge to get a claw hammer and bury it in their heads. As grown man it would be fucking hard work trying to fight off the dog they had too it was huge. Only cowards with big egos need to own something like that.
