Im not so sure about Bell, he was injured Nov 1975 ,missed the remainder of 75.76 season and the whole of 76/77 season ....The Bell that returned after that ,1st at Highbury then in the 2nd comeback match v Newcastle boxing day 77 .... would ,arguably not have made our squad today ......due to the lasting effects of injury ..

I meant pre injury Bell although I realise his injury predates my City support. Realise that might be bending the rule I set a bit!

Both club greats. I think in my time following City (since 1976) until the takeover, Dave Watson, along with Colin Bell are the only players that would comfortably get in our squad today.

Possibly Tueart too, who was my hero growing up.

A relative mine was a mate of Bob Stokoe’s and said that he had a huge oil painting of that save up in his living room.

He makes a ridiculously good save v Arsenal too,can't recall who shoots ,but as it hits a defender ,JM is going to wrong way to his left ,but after the deflection, changes direction superbly to push the ball round the post .
An absolutely brilliant save ,imo.

The other semi-final that season was Leeds v Wolves which was at Maine Road & we got tickets for that game. It was a scrappy affair settled by a Billy Bremner goal at the North Stand end.

I think every player is completely shocked by the saves, ..I noticed Sunderland defenders don't even rush to congratulate Monty , almost as if they are still processing what had just happened,....compare with modern football they'd be first pumping and minute long celebrations if that had happened .

Great footage. How lucky were we to have had Dennis and Dave in our team.

Notwithstanding we also signed Mickey Horsewill as well. I thought we had and had to go and check, I assume you are like me a vintage of 1961 so my memory does give up at times.

Always liked that Tueart and Watson (one of my all time favourites and scored my second favourite City goal v Ipswich after Sergio) and from what I recall Horsewill was pretty good too.

Watched this at a neighbours house in Bredbury - I was 6.
Only house in the street with Colour TV so there was about 40 of us around there.

Next year Liv v Newc watched at home on our set just me mum and dad
