One of his main problems is shot power. There are times when hes at the edge of the box where he should let one fly but he knows he needs to put too much power from there and it will likely miss the target. So he passes it and it restarts. But from closer range his shooting mechanics is crazy clean, one on one hes a great finisher yet he doesnt get in many of them because he doesn't make runs behind the defense. Such an enigmatic player.

I found this video and remembered to quote this, because the biggest issue with him is that he doesnt score enough goals. Thing is his shooting technique is excellent. Thats why hes a good penalty taker as well. But he needs to be inside the box, because his shot doesn't have sufficient power. This is a random ass goalkeeper that saves most of his shots because they don't have the pace they need to have at the top level.

So what do you do? Either just practice shooting all the time and build up leg strength (which I dont think he can do more of) or just GET YOURSELF IN POSITIONS IN THE BOX where you can use your placement technique. But this is more difficult when youre running with the ball in the box, and easier when you receive the ball in the box, for which you need to stop jogging down the touchline when your team has the ball.

Shocking to me how Pep hasn't improved him. Compared to last season Doku basically improved his strengths, but none of his weaknesses.

I think his shooting technique is actually good.

But like you said, he is always so wide and never in the box so he gets virtually no good chances to shoot.

I hope he learna from Marmoush and adopts some tendencies, and he may benefit as well with a wide leftback.

Doku was lively and dangerous when subbed in. But it was soon obvious that he didn’t generate much after he beat his markers. Usually defenders will get used to his pace and tricks after 15 minutes and he would be playing in loops at left when he was starter. I’m afraid both Doku and Savinho are failing projects. They both play in a way that City cannot depend on but occupies a lot of ball time and room. They haven’t shown signs that they can play smart game and adapt to the team. Plus they don’t defend. They would be good in a prime City team as they can provide variety and be carried but in current team they make the team predictable as the main attacking force.

If he could learn better off the ball movement he could be a decent player

Look at someone like sterling who positioning and off the ball movement were world class , making up for his poor shooting technique

Some things you can’t teach though

You're absolutely right about Sterling’s positioning but I don’t think Raheem would look any better than Doku in our current setup.

With the old guard still in midfield, we’re just too slow. If you watch some of the highlights from when Sterling was scoring regularly, you'll see plenty of players making runs from deep, something that’s almost completely missing in today’s game. We also lack a yard when transitioning.

Not a big fan of pep's "hugging the touchline" instructions.

Someone here said Doku doesn't do enough so they'd rather have Rodrygo, but he has one goal in the last 22 matches. Hes been plain awful, never asserting himself on the game and just not explosive or direct enough to create danger. Vinicius has also not been better than Doku this season honestly. For all the mistakes he makes he would be crucified here but he gets away with everything. The difference between him and Doku is that he crosses from deeper and while the defense is not set, but we play much more direct than City.

Bad first touch meant he could beat his man...but that ball across and his decisiveness was a very brief breath of fresh air.

He finally played a different ball than the one he normally plays, outside of the boot between the keeper and the defenders and thankfully Nunes followed and scored, usually he plays it to the front post for opposing defenders, glad he changed it this time.

Skin his man for pace and put a dangerous cross in at the first opportunity. More of the same going forward please young man! Much more like what I want to see from him.
