Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

Yep. I had some dickhead half and half scarf seller of all people having a pop at me last night while I was handing out the protest leaflets near the tram stop. Turns out he's a season ticket holder. It all started off ok when I was showing him the leaflet but his cluelessness came racing to the surface straight away when he saw the match day prices for the Villa game and said that he thought the tickets for Villa fans were capped at £30. I pointed out that these were home end ticket prices. Then he started getting all defensive about the club. Now he's entitled to his opinion like the rest of us but some of his takes were unreal and full of shit.

I asked him whether he thought it was fair that a family of 4 should pay between £228 and £292 for last night's game. His answer was that he's a ST holder who stumps up all his money up front so in that case it absolutely is fair. I said "So how does a working class family from Manchester afford to pay that?" His answer: "Well those ticket prices aren't aimed at those people as they know they can fill it with other fans". To which I asked "So how come there are thousands of unsold tickets for tonight?" Not much of an answer to that one as you can imagine

I asked him what he would do if he was ever priced out. His answer was simply "I'll just accept it and not go".

Then I asked him what he would do if he got affected by the 10 games minumum attendance stipulation for next season and what he would think to it if he broke his leg and had to miss shit loads of games, putting his 10 game minimim attendance in jeopardy: "I'll just get someone to go to the ground, scan my season ticket and then walk back out again".

I asked him how does a child follow in his father's footsteps by getting a season ticket when no new season tickets have been issued for years: "Use someone else's season ticket then". Like it's that fucking easy!

I asked him how the likes of Bayern Munich can have thousands of dirt-cheap season tickets without jeopardising all their other revenue streams: "What are you bringing those German cunts into it for? It's a 1 team league"......."But Borussia Dortmund and other German clubs sell cheap season tickets too"......"So what"

The icing on the cake was him telling me that the biggest complaints amongst fellow season ticket holders around him were the number of randomers being there, and implied that we should be specifically focusing on that, yet the cheeky **** was there selling half and half scarves to the very type of people that he'd just been slagging off!

Funnily enough, the United supporting half and half scarf seller who was with him actually got the gist of why we were protesting while he didn't

Oh, and we're all moaners apparently. We never do anything else but moan and he told me I'd been moaning ever since we left Maine Road. How he could draw that conclusion when he'd only known me for 15 minutes is beyond me!
He didn't ring talksport after the game by any chance

You want to know where the American model goes??

1/3 season ticket plans.. but keep prices the same per game.
So instead of 19 home games.. you get 6 or 7.

In all honesty.. COVID has showed the clubs they don't need to depend on match day revenue. The TV revenue will be vastly superior.. they should just keep prices reasonable.

But even City+ got a 250% price increase last season!
Hmmmm...that Americanisation of the Premier League moves ever closer, with the promoted teams from the Championship next season.

Leeds - US Owned
Burnley - US Owned

If they're likely joined by Sheff Utd - that's a 3rd US owned club coming up. With only Ipswich of the 3 relegated clubs being US owned, a net gain of 2 US owned clubs, making a grand total of 12 out of 20 next season in the Premier League.

Looking further down the pyramid, surprisingly 7 League One clubs have US ownership. With Birmingham & Wrexham on their way to the Championship, that's more US owned clubs piling up to join the Premier League elite.

The magic number of 14 not so far away, after which it's curtains for the game we love.

There is always a reason mate, makes you wonder what that reason really is.

When it’s been discussed previously, people have claimed that where they stand at the entrance to the tram, is Metrolink land and outside the club’s jurisdiction.

Selling snide half and half scarves to fund your season ticket. Priceless!

My mate put his 2 tickets up on the exchange for the game yesterday near the front of SSL3.

They were sold on StubHub for £100 each. Thy were City fans sat in the seats this time unlike v Everton earlier this season.

I've just had a look on StubHub and they all seem to be VIP/Corporate tickets?! No option for an individual to sell a ticket there. Do you think these tickets are coming from the club themselves? If individuals can't sell them then they must be getting sold in bulk and have some sort of an arrangement with Stubhub. They might acknowledge 8/9 ticket partners, but I wouldn't be surprised there's others that they just don't publicise on their site.

It’s definitely from the club.

It was actually just one ticket he put up for sale and the other ticket was the person who sits next to him.

For them to be sold as a pair - which they were as it was a couple sat in the seats - they had to have come from the club to StubHub.

Yep, I've had suspicions this has been going on in addition to the ones they do acknowledge. Looks like they're being transparent by listing some 'official partners', but there's plenty being shifted out the back door.

100% correct. Those listed resale partners are all for packages, breaks, travel, accomodation etc. as well as the tickets.
But Livefootball, not listed, always seem to have hundreds of tickets, often 2/3/4 seated together, for any City game, usually with availability right up to kick off. There's no way they can do that without some kind of cooperation, or they'd be easy to shut down, if the club wanted to. It smells like StubHud is similar.
Someone at the club is telling porkies with this "550 tickets to resellers" nonsense.

Yes, that livefootball tickets is the same. I've gone on there after it's been mentioned on here numerous times. Again, nowhere for an individual to sell tickets and therefore there must be some kind of arrangement with the clubs directly or through an intermediary. They'd never acknowledge that because of the backlash they'd receive from the main stream media with the eye watering prices they charge. Hopefully somebody comes out from one of the big clubs and whistleblows as I'm sure they're all at it to some extent.

I never once fell for this '550' tickets. It's that low it actually raises suspicion instead of quell it. Think most wouldn't be too bothered if it was only 550. The number they've provided is that low it probably wouldn't even be worth their time having those agreements in place.
