Nottingham Forest (N) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Watching Phil (despite his poor season), Rico and Nico all on the field at the same time for a FA cup semi is special. Just having academy players on the field feels so nice. Golden boy Oscar get well soon, lad.

Superb from Pep. He played no centre forward and the two tree trunks had nobody to mark, instead he split savinho and Marmoush and played a box midfield with Rico and jack at the front, we never lost control of that midfield and I think we were miles the better side despite their breakaways which seemed to stem from our mistakes.

Yeah, that was very visible. Slight smile on his face, but nothing more. I actually suspect he wasn't exactly pleased with the performance, just the result — especially that way they were cutting through us and wearing out the woodwork in the second half. Watch that Elanga chance at the beginning of the second half, he goes blithely sailing past two City defenders (one of whom is I think Dias) without either of them being the slightest bit aware of him. It wasn't the only time the defence went completely to sleep, either.
He'll have a public voice for that performance, and I suspect a private one for the dressing room and the training pitch this week.

Edit: I've slandered Rúben. Had another look. Nico O'Reilly saw him all right, but from approximately the same starting position Elanga simply left him behind. And Nico is not slow. Gvardiol doesn't seem to be aware of him and he snuck past him. Should have been a goal.
Nico didn’t track that run at all. No dig as he’s been having a lot of game time recently but could not keep up there

Whilst the reaction from Nuno and the Forest players was gracious afterwards, if I was a Forest fan I'd be annoyed that they weren't more upset about losing a Wembley semi-final.

It's almost as though deep down they didn't believe that they could really beat us twice in a season, and that going down so early just confirmed that feeling.

A strange game - generally felt comfortable, yet we could have lost it with a few inches difference here or there.

It seems like a couple or more are remembering how to play the 'City' way - and are getting used to winning.

Amazing what a short run can do for everybody, both on the pitch and on here...
As someone said, the early goal fucked Nuno's tactics completely, because they are not good at chasing a game.

We had total control of the game, up until half-time, and it really should have been 1-1 right after the break. How the fuck rag reject Elanga missed, when it was just as easy to score, I will never know.

Played them three times this season and we've beat them 5-1 over those games. There ine and only goal came at the end of their home fixture which they had sat deep for the whole game hardly venturing past the half way line. Everytime ive seen them ive felt they've been very average but obviously can't fault they've done well to be where they are. Never felt like they'd score two goals yesterday once we went 1-0.

I will say this, City MUST allow everyone who went to that game yesterday first refusal on final tickets, doesn't matter the reason people couldn't go, but City need to let the fans who went yesterday first option on tickets.
=======
Totally agree. I said this to a few people yesterday and all were in agreement. Of course they won’t do this, but they should.
Not going to happen. Cup scheme has to be first. I would like to see some fans rewarded but my family couldn't go, been to all cup games as on all cup schemes but moving house stopped us going.

Sadly you are probably right. It should not be a god given right to go to finals if you do not go to semi's. Tbh yesterday was uncomfortable before, during and after MCFC totally outnumbered. We are a much bigger club than NF, our privileged ticket holders for every game have become somewhat complacent, so open it up a bit. Great day btw.

So if yesterday was the only City game someone’s attended all season they should get first refusal on tickets for the final? Makes perfect sense.

If they want to do that, they need to open the cup schemes up to members next season. It won’t happen this season. I’m not convinced the club care who goes to Wembley or who doesn’t though to be honest.
