This was my whole point through our slump, he is getting all of the praise now (rightly so) so if our turnaround is on Pep, our downfall is too.

I wasn't hopeful he could find a different way but I think he has now which is great to see. We are attacking better with purpose and we have been crying out for that all season. Good tactical tweaks and we look a different team (still without key players which shows you can find solutions with injuries) long may it continue

Barcelona have showed what happens when you give youth that chance
They have world class youth growing on trees though.

Barca come back is fascinating. They should have been dead and buried like Man U, but they've become the best (top 3 minimum) team in the world within the space of 2-3 years.

They have a huge focus on the academy and I'm surprised that our hierarchy have not adopted the same view

They had no option but to focus on the academy. If they wasn't in such a financial mess they would have spent heavily bringing players in. It wasn't a planned focus, it was forced upon them and they've just been very fortunate that they've got a fair few gems in their academy. had they been shit, they'd still have had to rely on them and they would have fallen like united.

My point is they have made it work. We also have a similar number of gems.

Nothing but pure good fortune that it's worked, they've won 1 league title in the last 6 years in a 3 team league That same period in the much tougher premier league, they'd have struggled for champions league qualification and much needed income.

The gems we have will mostly find a way through regardless if they're good enough it might just be a year or two later. we've got 4 that have featured semi-regularly this season, bobb would have been the 5th had he been fit. How many more do you want?

Would you accept 1 title in the next six seasons in order to push through a few extra kids of a liam Delap or Morgan Rogers calibre?

Barcelona are one of the very last sides anybody should be looking to emulate.

I think our academy has matured and now has a depth to it's talent pool that should be explored further than it is currently. I look at some of the expensive players bought and definitely wonder if our kids would have been a better gamble / choice

In a way academy players benefit from the first team struggles, barcelona not being able to buy has opened up opportunities they might not have had. O’Reilly is benefitting from injuries and poor form that if Ake had been fit and we’d been challenging for CL and PL he wouldn’t have got.

Yes and it proves that they need their chance and an extended period of inclusion

Thats

Thats the trick part though, when challenging for everything. Though sometimes its down to players and their advisors to be patient and wait for their chance to open up. foden did, and O’Reilly must have done as he’s 20 now and just breaking through.
