Rodrygo

As much as i would like this, surely Nico Williams @ £51.6m release clause and either Kerkez or Cambiaso for the same money as Rodrygo would be better business?

Well according to Madrid press last summer he’d be a city player right now , if we could convince him to come.

A few big Madrid journalists and Spanish journalists say Peps a massive fan of him. Sees him as a game changing player.

Even in an interview during the season in Brazil Rodrygo said there was conversations and he appreciates Pep as a coach. So there have been conversations

I did say Madrid would find the fall out guy to get rid of for Mbappe and Vini looks like it’s Rodrygo. It’s how they operate

He is such a good team player
Must hate playing with Jude, Vini and mbappe
Last year he would have had to leave the champions league winners, which is tough
This year I imagine a lot easier to leave them

Yeah , I genuinely think he’s in that Vini jr type of player category. Just needs to play his position and get a run of games. He’s incredible when he’s had a run of games. We have wingers yes but Rodrygo is another level to what we have now the one skill he has that our wingers struggle with is he can finish and he’s a big game player
 
I think we'll get a hell of a lot more out of our attacking players when the balance of the side is better. If we can attack without fear that losing the ball will end up with the opposition having a chance of their own we'll be so much better. I rate Rodrygo highly, but can't see us buying him.
 
Huge upgrade on Savinho. He scores and creates goals. Name any other of wingers that do that in our current set up. I don’t include Marmoush in that as he’s not really a winger. Haaland, Marmoush and Rodrigo as a front three with Doku and Bobb in addition is league winning material again. Think about it - add Rodrigo to a fully fit squad including Rodri, Stones etc Add a full back and we’re sorted.

The reports say he'll play off the left though, we already invested heavy there, we don't need another LW for this cost. Not surprised of the timing he's on a 15 game streak of 0g 0a at the minute.

RW maybe, but think the money that will be needed is probably needed elsewhere and we have options there as well already. Cant say i'd be arsed either way on this tbh.
 
I don't see the need to replace Doku, or Savinho, or Bobb, and each has two to four years of development before reaching Rodrygo's age, but adding a player of this quality creates healthy competition among the four and allows a Haaland alternative too.
 
Haaland up top with marmoush and rodrygo just behind would be lethal.

Could spell the end for foden though.
 
I wouldn't say no to this. Real Madrid have a habit of letting fantastic players leave and replacing them with flashier models.

Goals. Our other wingers are not quality finishers. He got 10 goals in la liga last season. He’s never been played in the position he likes frequently he’s been moved around at Madrid to accommodate Mbappe and Vini this season.

When he plays left wing he scores and creates. He’d walk into our eleven at this time on the left. As he’s got a skill that most of wingers lack which is putting the ball in the net.

Still don't see it as a priority over a couple of midfielders and a couple of full backs plus we'll probably need a keeper. Before you even talk about cost there's the making room in the squad issues.

So how many LW are we supposed to buy? Last season he free roamed around the left the whole season and scored 10. they played a double striker system. you can already see in the national team „ how good „ he is on his preferred positions. He doesn’t score there either. Rodrygo is a good player in a good system but people make him better then he is. Nowhere near vini or mbappe .
Marmoush is already here. This goes against Rodrygo already unless we wanna turn out like Madrid and buy the same players several times.

Kinda agree we now have goals from the left, Foden still has 16 g/a in arguably his worst season from the right, this seems very unnecessary for the money/space taken up.
