I think you've misread the statement. They've said it twice in the announcement and the second statement is clear:Not necessarily true that it will be 4000 because they've said there will also be relocations from other areas too. It's also worth pointing out that all the new "season tickets" start off as Flexi-Gold with an option to transform to a proper season ticket but only if they attend 16 out of 19 games in the 2026/27 season.
"and that the majority of the additional GA seating capacity will be held by Season Ticket Members, through the release of new Season Tickets. "
I think the Gold Plus is actually a very good idea and a step in the right detection to combat empty seats. It simply means if you want to have a ticket for all 19 matches you've got to prove you'll go to at least 16 of them first.
However, this will do nothing to combat touts. I would like the club to have a scheme where season ticket holders can buy a ticket off a tout/3rd party website and then report it to the club for a full reimbursement. Then the club should open a dialogue with the original purchaser of the ticket and sue them if necessary for the costs involved. Who would sell a ticket to a tout or 3rd party website if they might lose their ticket and get sued for a few hundred quid? If you can't go or pass on your ticket to a mate sell it back to the club. Any touts with tickets would soon be outed. By sueing them you help fund the scheme.
