1) informal
cheat or swindle (someone) so as to deprive them of something.
"he thought he'd been diddled out of his change.

Intriguing phrase you used there. Google says ^.

I've an echo in my brain of it meaning something else. Can't remember tbh. Might be a Mancunian phrase?

I think he's referring to this. Either that or shagging.

The disgusting BBC today had an article on the race for CL places and showed the table.

They then listed the games to be played.

So moved us to 5th (3rd), Newcastle to 3rd (4th), Forest to 4th (6th) and Chelse to 6th (5th).

Why not just put the teams in the order they are at present?

I doubt anyone moved anything. It's likely that they produced a similar list a few weeks ago, and have just deleted games as they were played.

There have probably been multiple similar articles since, and given that it changes all the times, it's not worth adjusting. Just in the last five days, there have been games involving top six teams every single day.

I think he was sarcastically referencing united winning the fa cup last year over us and us winning the league.
Well I don't get that either because us winning 4 on the bounce was a much bigger story. But not on the day of the FA final obviously. If we beat Palace in the FA cup then on that day City winning the FA will be a bigger story than Liverpool winning the PL. But only on that day because in the grand scheme of things winning the league is bigger that winning the FA cup.

I think, and I dont like speaking for other people, that the original poster did mention prestige suggesting that from an overall standpoint the fa cup was more important than the league last year solely because of who won both competitions. I wouldn't ponder on it much further.

Then you've got scouse giddy cow kelly Cates who is another who let's her personal rivalries overtake her professional job. She's forever getting her digs in and next year will be even worse with the pair of red mardarse clubs tied on 20 titles each, they'll be crowbarring it in every fuckin week.
and this time next year they'll both be stuck on 20 and we'll be on 11 :-)

slowly slowly catchy monkey...

But honestly, how hard is it to do it right?

It depends what "right is". Here's the "same" article from April, which was updated multiple times, and last updated May 2nd.

They've been running them, and updated the text/table every few days for the last month. Shuffling around the list at the bottom is just extra work, and makes no real different to the table.

It was likely the "right" order when it was first produced, and it's probably a good life exercise in externalising things that you're going to be concerned about ;)

Fair do’s.

I see the BBC are reporting that the premier league have moved Spurs v Villa game 2 days to give Spurs more time to prepare for their potential European final. Villa aren’t happy about that but it’s all about helping English teams in Europe. What a nice helpful organisation the EPL are. Surely they’ve been as helpful to their most successful club in recent years. I am trying to remember all these occasions but am somehow struggling to recall them. Perhaps our Media friends can do some research and write a factual article regarding similar EPL assistance to the team whose reputation and existence they are trying to destroy ………………….

Would this be the team they've told to get fucked because they asked for a week off after the club world cup?

Tbh if it helps those useless cunts beat the rags I'm all for it.

I notice that this has no named journalist credited for the article. There a few like these appearing on the BBC Football pages, not checked other sport areas. On one of these, in the HYS, I pointed this out and asked if this meant it was written by AI as it read like it was. Comment removed as being off topic. Does make me wonder.
