Assists tell you something. Not everything. The bloke who gave the ball to Maradona in his own half before he beat the entire England team in '86 would now get an assist. Whereas Gundo doesn't get one on Friday, yet he makes the goal.
He doesnt make the goal at all. Doku made the goal. Gundos pass was a perfectly fine 5 yard pass 30 yards out from goal to Doku. The decent thing Gundo did was run through and take a defender away from the middle. But still, he was shit on Friday and has been shit since his return.

I’d be shocked if at least 2 of Gundogan, Bernardo and Kovacic don’t start the first game of next season
Reading this made me angry sad and brought me laugh at the same time !

Sorrr but if we want to win the title next season it will not be with gundo in midfield as when we come up against the real top sides we will get snashed through as we have been all season . He as been average at best in these last few games against teams who we should be putting to bed but we need to move forwards not backwards and it should be took out of pep’s hands like the walker was because he will keep picking every week .

Don’t understand Peps reasoning with picking Gundog for nearly every game when Jack never gets a look in……..beats me

That, in itself, is a big deal.

Gundo's legs may be going but his brain is still brilliant and his movement - whether to take a defender away to create space or to arrive late - is great.

He's been used way more than he should've been this season and I'm amazed Pep kept him in the middle for so long. It's no surprise he's improved since being pushed forward and stopped needing to be up and down for 90 minutes.

His mentality, coaching ambitions and general brilliance will be great for next season when we'll have more bodies so he'll get more rest.

If Gundogan hits 20 apps next season something will have gone very wrong.

He'll retire next summer and join our backroom staff.

He's been really good the last few games, but he was clearly brought in to be part of the circulation in midfield rather than a main cog and that in itself shows City's failure this season. No issues with him staying, clearly still a class player and good for the dressing room, but we HAVE to get players in so we don't rely on him to play constantly.

He has been decent when played since he came back and excellent since Christmas in games v Ipswich Newcastle Chelsea and Palace, as 4 examples off the top of my head. In fact the 3 Premier league games we have lost since Christmas he did not even play in ! He came back as a squad player and has been overplayed, which is not his fault. He didn't make the goal v Wolves but he played a crucial role in it.

He's been invisible in almost all games this year. Another example he had 26 touches in 90 minutes against Villa. 48 against United. No assists, no key passes 1 tackle.

0 goals 5 assists in 31 games. If his name was Jack grealish people would be losing their mind.

All this is stats, but just watching him play as a false 9 like he did on Friday was one of the saddest performances I've seen in a long time.

When he's been allowed to play off the back four in conjunction with another midfielder who's actually in form (Kovacic this time) hes actually played well. He understands the rhythm of how Pep wants us to play better than anyone, but the further up he gets the more he struggles because his legs can't get him into the positions he used to get.

I disagree but feel I've probably expressed my opinion enough on this topic!

not sure if it was shared but gundo recently gave an interview stating that he intends to keep playing for atleast 2 more years, maybe even 3 or 4.

Is that the rumour?
It's been rumoured for years that he wants to finish in Turkey, he's got loads of family there. Personally i think it depends on whether he would be content with potentially just being a cup player and helping out Pep in training more, because he's a clever guy and that seems his natural next move in life.

WHAT GUNDOGAN SAID

Gundogan said: "Being Pep’s assistant would be very interesting for me. But that [coaching] is not something I’m thinking about right now. I feel like I’m really enjoying football. Not just for one more year, but at least two, maybe even three or four. I’m not afraid at all, I’m excited, and my body is still in good shape.”

I wish him the best of luck wherever he chooses to play walking football in the coming seasons. We'll always have the final and Villa.
