Kevin DeBruyne is one of the best we have had, and one of the best the PL has seen.
He isn't the same player even though he can produce moments of magic.
It is time.

There can also be other issues to consider, including financial ones. And, like nobody can deny that Sir Alex Ferguson was a legend at Manchester United, his continued presence made it hard for the new team to move on. Sometimes, the reasons for a clean break are not so obvious, but leaders have to make those difficult calls.
Don't really care what slur twat did at the swam.
It's time for keV to go fuck anything they have done or will do

World class players are incredibly scarce, it's why RM have kept Modric so long. I realise he's on a lot of money and maybe with the PL charges hanging over us we have to make contingency arrangements, reducing our wage bill where we can? I just wish we could find a way to keep him on reduced wages.

I can understand Pep wanting to get Wirtz but realistically he's likely going to BM. Personally I think Gibbs-White is overrated and could negatively effect our squad. With recruitment of players like Philips, Nunes and maybe Gibbs-White? imo we are in danger of slipping down the table.

Absolutely nothing to do with the charges unless you think they've affected his capability to run.

Age (and it's knock on effect for sports people) and the wages bill, pure and simple.

He WAS world class of that there is no doubt but now its one good game in ten or a flash here and there and for the rest of the time he is a passenger, its hard to admit this because of how good he has been but as i keep on saying what he was isnt what he is, yes he scored the goal against wolves but our midfield was getting ran past over and over, he had that one good game against palace but was anonymous against the rags, everton, villa etc etc, he has been a bit part player for the last 2 seasons and 1 good game out of the last 8 unfortunately doesnt change that however much we would like it to.

As others have said, the decision to let De Bruyne leave is purely a financial one. To rebuild the squad we need to free up space on the wage bill, and he is the second biggest earner and the only one out of contract this summer. Moving on players still contracted to us is always difficult, so I think this was relatively straightforward decision for the club (and the right one). It's always sad to see legends leave, but the time is right for all parties imo.

Not for me it’s not. He’s got 13 goals/assists in the equivalent of 17 PL games, he’s got better as the season has gone on, says he is playing pain free for the first time in years, playing 90 mins most weeks, a fantastic influence in the dressing room and we are hardly skint. For me not giving him another season is utter madness

Let’s see what happens in the next 4 games.

Have you actually been watching him play, bar the palace game which everyone seems to cling to as a reason to keep him he has been completely anonymous in our last ten games, yes i understand that he scored the goal against wolves. He may be playing pain free for the first time in years but that hasnt meant his performances have been fantastic, he has been a bit part player for almost two years now, i am not saying that to take away from how fantastic he has been prior to that, but he is what he is not what he was.

And what if he wants a 2 or 3 year contract? Do you think he'd agree to just 12 months extension? How much would that cost us, in terms of goals and/or games lost when he gets ran past, time and time again?

I think there's a lack of respect for KDB's talents atm. It was only 13th April, when he inspired us to victory over Palace, that he declared he was now playing pain free, the first time for a long time. He's previously been playing with a painful hernia that restricted him earlier in the season. Since Palace his average match score has been 7.8/10 (whoscored.com).

I am curious if you don't think Kev is world class, which of our team do you think are world class?
Excluding Rodri who's been out almost the entire season and Haaland, who's also been out recently, have we any any truly world class players?

Kevin has made it quite clear he was expecting to stay, I get he's on high wages, but if we can renegotiate a lower wage personally I would love him to be offered a chance to stay.

I know it's illogical in light of his injuries but I would prefer him to stay too That being said we don't know the ins and outs of it all.

For all we know Kev is asking for full whack and a 3 year stint and the club aren’t going to do that IMHO.

kev WAS world class, like i keep saying everybody is hanging their hats on the ONE good game he had against palace and then completely ignoring the fact that he was anonymous against the rags, villa, everton etc etc. I am not disrespecting his talents what i am saying is that what he was before isnt what he is now and while those talents are there they are being showin in 1 game out of every ten and kev may well have been expecting to stay but he has been a bit part player over the last 2 years, thats not disrespecting his talents, thats just not viewing the situation through blue tinted glasses with a large portion of sentimentality, i can respect what kev was and what he has been to this club and understand that time has caught up with him and he isnt that anymore.

He's only been fully recovered since 13th April, 4 PL games, so I don't get this 1 in 10 business? As I said above his average score in those 4 games is 7.8/10. In all liklihood we would not have won the Palace and Wolves games without him. It's only fair to judge him on the games he's properly fit.

We have suffered with the loss of Rodri, if he can regain his form we will be a transformed side.

Once again have you watched him play in those games bar palace and okay if we take your assumptions that he has only been fully fit for 4 games, he hasnt shown up in 3 of them and you can take his score of 7.8 and thats fine but in reality if you have watched those games you know he has been anonymous in all bar the palace game and i include the wolves game in that as yes he scores the goal but how many times did our midfield get completely run through and if wolves had been more clinical that goal would have counted for nothing.

I have watched every City match, we have badly missed Rodri as a defensive midfielder and others. I don't accept Kev has not shown up in 3 of the 4 matches.

In the 4 games since declaring himself recovered, according to the BBC, he has been man of the match twice for Palace and Wolves. For Villa he was voted the 4th best player and for Everton was voted the 5th best player.

Perhaps he gets criticised more because he's been one of the best players the PL has ever seen? Personally I think, as fans, we must be careful what we wish for? I think he still has a lot to offer and we would be foolish to let him leave if he's prepared to renegotiate a reasonable contract.

Sad.....but I think one of the reasons he's being let go is that he's the only high wage player we can guarantee will leave this summer & reduce the wage bill.
My guess is that if we could guarantee getting rid of Grealish, Stones etc then we'd have offered KDB a one year deal (reduced wages)

When he is not injured KDB is our best player, regardless of age (with the exception of maybe Rodri). He drives the team on, he leads presses, he chases lost balls, he leads the attack. He does not look like an old man, or a shadow of his former self as some say. The only reasons he is not being renewed are his wages combined with his injury record, the club simply can't stomache the cost with financial constraints in mind.

I want to see him stay, but I fully understand why the club may not. But please, fellow blues, don't tarnish his name by low digs about him not being good enough.

I suspect KdB, Grealish, Bernardo, Kovacic, Gundogan, Stones and Ake will all go when their contracts are up (if not before). I can't see an extension for any of them due to age, fitness or both. It's just perhaps a tad unfortunate that KdB's contract is up first.

The squad needs a refresh/rebuild and that can't happen when we hold on to our aging/fading stars. Squad slots and salaries just won't allow it.
