Adam Wharton

Wonder if they can’t get Wirtz means they might pivot and look at Wharton or Baleba. Could see them getting another 8 type, with MGW being the 10 for a season instead of getting someone that is another project

I think it was @Dax777 who had the idea we may not play with a pure 10.

Instead we could play a sort of triple pivot of 6s and 8s (MGW being an 8, Wharton like a 6/8) to allow the fullbacks to bomb forward with inverted wingers in the half spaces (Marmoush and Foden).

Its kind of what PSG do.

Ruiz, Vitinha and Neves, none of them are 10s, but they are all hard working 8s or 6s and PSG instead gives the fullback (Hakimi) and wingers (Barcola, Kvara, Doue) more responsibility for playmaking and goalscoring.

Klopp's liverpool too

In all honesty, and I'm not a coach, so I could and probably am wrong - It feels like it makes more sense to be that way with the way the game is going. The 6 and two 8's being pure industry, and then allowing creativity to come out wide, and the strikers fit well. If that is the case, maybe the Rodrygo link has some substance?

He creates less or on par with every winger we have though least not a big enough jump for the outlay i expect.

To be honest there will be quite a few changes to the squad, added the players that arrived in January. As much as we can discuss which players we think we need only Pep knows how he intends to play next season so the players we actually target will be determined by that.
Maybe the CWC will give a good indication of his plans, and give him the ideal opportunity to try things out before the full window opens. The competition may confirm or give him second thoughts on targets.

That Gaughan article doing the rounds today leads me to believe this to. He reckons we will stick with Marmoush/Foden as the creative options in the event we don’t land Wirtz.

Do we move for Reijnders/Wharton as well as MGW in that event, and blow the Wirtz budget on Rodrigo?

I think we can probably afford Wirtz, Rodygo, MGW, 2 full backs, GK and Wharton if the older players are moved on. The issue may be the vast amount of time and resources we have to conduct all the transactions

If no Wirtz then i would defo settle for Reijnders, Gibbs-White and Rodrygo.

I’d be happy with that but I’m not sure we need Rodrigo. I think someone like Jacob Ramsey is more likely. We must be close to the limit on foreign players.

We are over the limit already. Need a fair few out if we are to bring in all the players posters seem to want. Then again the homegrown list is also full.

think they have to make sure they get rid of the likes of Sancho, Rashford and others first before they can buy or they will be in breach of PSR I believe
Haven't you understood yet - PSR doesn't apply to them.
Didn't you hear after last night, their ability to win European trophies when they're shit is akin to RM and they're the biggest club in the world ever.

Who are the 17 foreign spots.
Must Have:
Haaland
Gvardiol
Dias
Khusanov
Rodri
Marmoush
Savio
Doku
Gonzalez

Will stay as role players
Akanji
Kova
Nunes

Complicated
Bernado
Gundogan

On the bubble
Nunes
Ortega

Gone
Kev
Ederson

So assuming we move everyone below complicated

Kev, Ederson, Ortega, Nunes That leaves us with 4 foreign additions. Plus maybe 2 homegrown to replace Stones, Kyle, Ake, and Jack

1) Donarumma (Moving back to a dominant dhot stopper for keeper)
2) Reindjers ( the Marque addition - Not Wirtz but close)
3) Kerkez ( the Left back prospect to battle Nico)
4) MGW/Wharton ( in other words i prefer Wharton but understand reality is what it is)
5) Livramento (our starting RB - injury history is a worry)
6) Homegrrown Goalie ( i don't have a name yet)

Its not the most exciting haul but we strengthen every weakness.

Who is Bunes? Thought it was a typo for Nunes but you have him listed elsewhere.

We also will have Reis, Bah and Echeverri.

Was supposed to be Nunes. Listed him 2ice mistakenly.

Reis Bah and Echeverri I don't know about yet. So I didn't add them. Loan most likely for the 2 Center backs. If Echeverri balls out in summer then one of Bernardo or Gundo won't make
