If you look back over our conversation, you mentioned Inter Milan - referencing their performance in this years UCL as evidence that "team building" is the right approach. I countered your reference with the Real Madrid reference. I hope that clears things up.

Cruyff kinda is Dutch football though, any academy worth anything follows his guidelines over there. Idolises might have been a bit much but i did read something on it awhile ago in an interview. Could have been leaning into it as he got the shirt number.

Provides us with the extra pace for starters and since his mistake in the first derby he has played himself back into contention. Scored the winner vs Villa, played in the FA Cup semi final

And I then countered with why the Real Madrid approach wasn't the correct one and you came out with some guff about having two different conversations.

Good grief, overhyping him by saying he should be in the England squad just because he’s English? So they’re saying he should be selected above other English players who I’m guessing aren’t being overhyped despite being English? Can you see the flaw in your argument?

This is because I never said that the Real Madrid galactico way was the right way. It was a counterpoint to prove your point as false and nothing more. Perhaps we should end it there as it seems you're getting a little irate and I have no interest in this anymore anyway.

Any English player who shows a modicum of form is overhyped. In part it's due to the shortage of English players in the Premier League and our jingoistic Press needing to write about something. The bar of excellence for them is very low. Look at the coverage for Mason Mount in the press this morning. It was like the second coming. Extending the point also look at the media love in with Jude Bellingham.
