100% - I was actually very disappointed that he just stuck with the same set up that hasn't exactly worked - we have zero shape in midfield and make it easy for even poor sides to cut us open. Why play players who are either gone or should be retiring? Use this game to look at the future but I guess he knows he's gone...

Cushing looks out dated with his coaching skills to me. The Women's game has moved on somewhat and watching his training vids it looks very uninspiring.
This.
Need to bring in a top coach and add more depth to the squad or the top 3 will move further away from us and the chasing pack ie 5th could overtake us.

Wow, you look at that table, and you just think, “So near and yet so far!”. Dropping two points against United is really, really going to hurt.
Not really where it cost us. Losing points to Everton (both games) and away at West Ham was criminal.

Aoba has shown why she was perhaps one of the biggest misses when she got injured. I have big hopes she can play a huge part in next season. A gem who adds a lot - her and Hemp out wide next year is decent.

Yama

Alex, Rebecca, Kirsten, new left back

Roord, Yui, Viv,

Lauren, Bunny, Aoba

Fowler, L B-Brown, Keating, Prior, Layzell, Risa, Oyama,

Not a bad side to build on. Another dynamic midfielder brought in is essential because any injuries to the starting 11 is when we struggle. The most important thing is a new progressive coach and a good physio and we will challenge.

Murphy, Codie and O'Hanlon need to prove themselves in the youth side and I would let most of the others leave to be honest as some of the fringe players who have been given their chance haven't taken it.

I think dropping 5 points in games verse Everton, when it's normally a nailed on 6 pointer too.

My point is that United were our direct rivals for that spot. And we were leading 2-0. And we were playing considerably better by that point. Rather like the men, the women went through a period when they were pretty poor. Injuries played a major part, obviously. As with the men.

I agree , in such a strong position, ie 2 nil up,
But just saying, looking at the table, just 3 points from one of them Everton games , and we would of been 3rd , but that's life, and probably doesn't hurt as much as last season, ie chucking the title away in the last 10 mins of the home game verse Arsenal.

Hi I've lurked for a while here, but I've finally got around to registering...

It is true that points dropped to Everton + West Ham were annoying, but only Chelsea dropped fewer points to "the bottom 8". It was 2 points from 18 against the top 3 and conceding 2 goals + in all 6 of those matches that ultimately cost us.

Laia going back to Barca was perhaps the worst kept secret of the year. I thought she was outstanding in her first 2 years with the club and should have been offered a one year extension early last season as she would always want to go home but we could have delayed it until she was 25. This year she has committed about 4 individual errors that have led to goals and at times her mind seemed elsewhere and her form suffered.

This is a problem when players can discuss their next move prior to contracts ending. I really hope the club have done due diligence on Mary, Bunny and Jills contracts. Mary will become one of the best young players in world football - there will be lots of offers to her from around the globe. Jill will probably return to her best form as she enters the final year of her contract and we need a big presence to compliment Yui. Bunny is the most consistent scorer in the WSL and is key to any chance of us winning the league.

There were moments in that game where we took tedium to another level!. I said before KO that this should be a cricket score, and at HT it was one run for two wickets. Two instances, one in each half where we have a player two yards off the line, goal gaping, only the goalie to beat and each time shot straight at the keeper. Their keeper probably had her game of the season, and saved four or five 'goals'. Roord thumped one onto the post and better finishing could have doubled the score. If only we had Bunny, Mary and Vivianne available all season we would have strolled CL qualification. Anyway, I''ll be back next season. It'll interesting to see who the new coach is and which 'new' players are drafted in.

If Bunny was playing that game ends up 10-2

Their keeper had the game of her life as well.

A very frustrating first half and they could even have scored more. They personnel changes in the second half helped as did a more positive approach. We remain terribly wasteful in front of goal but their keeper played well.

Pleased You got the player of the year, I voted for her. In my opinion the best player over the whole season.

My son found my name on the thank you banner!

Anyway have a good summer all. Hopefully the club will bring in a top coach for us and despite our lack of champs league football we will attract and sign the top level players we want.
