Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

No luck all season from the moment the keeper some how managed to stay on the pitch I think we all knew the outcome of the game. Can't fault the players effort but the quality is lacking big time. Doku for how good he ìs a beating a man his final ball is poor kev is finished at the top level he's a yard off it which in this league is too much. Savio has gone backwards after a really promising start grealish and bernardo offer nothing in an attacking threat. Haaland looks in need of a good summer off and he really needs to improve his hold up play which is poor at best. And foden well I hope it's just an off season but his dip is a big worry. Still think pep is the man to find the solutions hopefully he can get us playing a lot quicker next season it's too easy for teams to get everyone behind the ball when we play so slow.
Not a cat in hells chance this team suddenly becomes quick. That will only happen when Pep goes

Did nobody on the tv channels say ‘it’s irrelevant where the ball goes, DGSO is a red herring, handball outside the area is a red card, he should be sent off for that, NOT denying a DGSO… I don’t get it, they’re missing the issue
It was Hendersons hand that sent the ball wide nit Erlings foot.

Not quite, VAR didn’t decide there was no offence, they decided there was no red card offence. They knew it was an offence and the ref got it wrong on the pitch, but it wasn’t justifying a red card in their view (which was clearly wrong!)
Clink.

(The sound of the penny dropping :-) ).

How many times in the 2nd half did akanji have the ball on the right side in their half , with de bruyne stood only 10 yards away from him in the middle? Why didn't they swap positions so kev could get crosses in? They were happy to let akanji have the ball because his crossing is terrible.
Also, savinho did 3 great crosses at the start of the 2nd half, but the momentum in the game was stopped by the head injury delaying tactics by them.

Apart from Pep going - think he needs the start of the new season at least.
Agreed.
He's clearly lost his marbles this season - numerous valid reasons - and I can only hope he'll come out fighting, rejuvenated and thinking straight.
Will be interesting to see where we are at come the November international break. Indeed it will be interesting to see what the squad looks like at the end of August. Pep will be under growing pressure if our current level is not improved. I haven't given up on him yet but I think he has his work cut out to make us competitive again.

I'm guessing you've never had concussion

Lets nail a top 5 place and then we need a huge summer transfer window & get the buys right for a change, we need a hell of a lot more than 2 or 3 players though
We have Rodri (class act) and Bobb (on the fringe of greatness?) both to come back.
Then there are Nunes and Kovacic who should be able to be played in their correct positions and the mystifying situation with Grealish who really should have featured much more this season imo.
In the background we have the likes of Khusanov, Echeverri and Gonzalez.
So the rebuild isn't such a huge job I think.

Who would of been responsible for the players signed in january
Pg asking for them players or told the names he would be getting

I agree 100% with what you've said. Just for the record I'm not Pep out, I just think he's become too comfortable with this group of players.

Pep of a few years ago would not have stood for performances like yesterday, he'd have actioned and made changes. I think he's too loyal to the old guard but it's costing the team. Totally agree re Haaland and Marmoush. We don't play to either of their strengths.
I’m not a Pep out either. I want him to have a re-think over the summer break and have a good assessment of how to get the ball quicker to our forwards.

We are constantly told that it is a combined effort. It is a difficult time to go into the market and it is starting to look like we engaged in some panic buying.

That wasn’t what I was talking about there.

On the keeper one, it should have been a free kick and a red card. As soon as VAR wrongly didn’t suggest a red card, it can’t be given as a free kick.

May be wrong, but I think the referee could have changed his mind to a yellow and a free kick if VAR had recommended a DOGSO red card but he maintained his original decision.

Anyone confirm that's how it could work?

Some are talking about problems overcoming the parked bus/low block. Not the issue, we've struggled against average teams that attack us too. Liverpool, spurs, sporting, feyenoord, PSG, Madrid, Arsenal (away) and so on.

My take is that it's the lack of goals from the midfield. Particularly in the PL, Grealish 1, Foden 7, Doku 3, Savinho 1, Gundogan 0, Bernardo 3, De Bruyne 4. Gvardiol has 5 PL goals from defence. Fixing that will go a long way to fixing the team. I haven't checked assists but I suspect it's equally piss poor.

This is worse than that season statistically and we don’t have the comfort blanket of the best manager in the world coming in to improve things.

Sean Dyche is available. What's not to like?

Or I have seen Neil Warnock at the Etihad recently. Maybe he is putting himself forward?
