Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

But it's not ridiculous, though.
It is entirely feasible that Pep has become obsessive about the possession of the football.
Remember, Pep has had a very stressful year away from the grass.
If he doesn't have a strong enough back staff who can keep him grounded, there is a very likely situation that he has gone full mad scientist.
You say it's not Pep, but you don't like the wingers. The ones that don't wing...
The striker doesn't strike, and the creator is clueless.
Oh, and the Prem POTS from last year looks like he's been thrown into the squad after winning the chance to play from a raffle.
On the contrary to what you say, it is more than likely that the players are having their individuality removed.
I wonder why Jack doesn't play much?......
We're like a band with a lead guitarist who isn't allowed to play his riff.....

I think the treble season was built on Pep deciding that he could win games with fewer big chances if we controlled the ball because we had the most lethal striker on the planet and the most lethal creater of chances of his generation. Erl has slowed down and Kev is done. We need to create a wider variety and quality of chances and rebalance how we set up in attack while maintaining control. I don't think that's as easy as some make it out to be, given the relative quality of the league, but I think Pep is a genius who can work that out and I trust him more than anyone. I don't know if the world cup is a perfect experimental lab for us or a terribly timed interruption. Onwards.
I personally think Pep will use the world cup as an experiment for next season. I think he will try things. We will have to see.

Have we had any confirmation yet whether Marmoush was chosen pre match to take a pen, or whether Haaland gave it up there and then in the moment?

Personally I see both as problematic (should he start if he's mentally not there to take a pen), but the latter would be very disappointing.
Pep said after the match that the players decide on the pitch.

We did get screwed by var.

We still didn’t do enough to win regardless.

It’s and injustice but should not be an excuse. Bernie said we have bad apples. No heart no hunger, no wonder the wheels came off.
Love to know who they are?

Not Bernardo, love him to bits.

TBF if you are talking about Guehi and Wharton going down injured, let me update you, Wharton missed the presentation as he was in hospital having a concussion assessment. Guehi is out for rest of season with suspected fractured eye socket.
I would be miffed about the Henderson decision but to say worst ever decision is stretching it, you should see the decisions we endure week in week out. Thought Pep and your medics behaviour left a lot to be desired tbh.
Not here to gloat, how could I our first ever trophy compared to your fantastic record. Best of luck for rest of season I am sure this season is just a blip

Congratulations on your success. Always found Palace fans decent over the last 45 years and yesterday was no exception. So pleased for you all mate. As angry as I feel about our team, Pep' decisions and the officials, Palace deserved it. Hope Guehi and Henderson recover as quickly as possible. Best wishes.

I think regardless of how we played. We’re missing that go to player. Kev as amazing as he’s been for us isn’t that guy anymore but who is?

We’ve always been relying on someone else but who is there ?

Doku and Savinho aren’t good enough.

We need to spend big.
Rodri will come back soon.

Congrats on the win, very happy for you and your fanbase.

On the medics, are you saying Guehi was brought back on even though he had a fractured eye socket?

Er - to an extent - not necessarily the very best - but certainly better than half of those out there yesterday.

I like the possession. But got to do more with it and throw in a long ball now and then. An odd shot from the edge of the box would be a start.
Get the opposition thinking more.
Unlike the Treble side, we've even started losing the ball under no pressure and in great positions now.
I mainly agree. It’s strange, because it seems like the drop must be due to the obvious drop in quality, but we won the league with Fabian Delph and Zinchenko, and Gabriel Jesus, whose quality isn’t the greatest either.
I wonder if it’s just having more of a solid spine of real world class players.

It’s a shame that Dias hasn’t really grown into being a top-class, elite defender. He clearly works hard, and has some leadership qualities, but he isn’t the rock and organiser we’d have liked him to become.

Missing Rodri has been massive.

Bernardo and Gundo are so slow now that they could hardly manage to drag us through anything. Same for Kev apart from the odd game or moment here and there.

but it did goto VAR, VAR decided for reasons of corruption or incompetence, that there was nothing to see here, move along.

Or are you suggesting extending VAR powers to award free kicks, yellow cards, corners? throw ins? after the fact?. At which point you may as well save a few bob and sack the on-field officials and just officiate the game via the VAR screens.

What you (seem)to be asking for is contrary to what most football fans want, I suspect far more would want to see VAR abolished than its powers extended
A transition to Football Video Support (FVS) where managers have two appeals per match (retained if used successfully) would get public support in my view, and have the potential to check a whole range of decisions without being overly time consuming.

I keep coming back to the same conclusion, penalties should not be missed….

Plus their keeper should have seen red.
