If you don’t believe the PR spin its still ridiculous because we will eventually end up spending money elsewhere on a lesser player for more than half the price of Wirtz. We got rejected by him and that’s all. The issue is this board let go KDB but will retain the other members of the old guard and will expect big things to happen next season.

I don't think we were ever going to replace KDB like for like. There's simply no one like him in world football, and that includes Wirtz.
Also, football has changed and that type of player is no longer essential to a team.
We also won plenty without Kev, when he missed long periods of seasons.

We already have Perrone who's a creative mid but he's a deep lying creative mid as a 6. We seem to want 10's who're creative mids.

Makes sense to watch the pennies. It is far from certain that we will be in the CL next season and even if we were we would struggle again on current form.
We need to consolidate and have a plan. It seems plausible that we cannot risk all our eggs in one basket.
He may not be inclined to join us due to our collapse in form and the unknown result of the hearing.
Lots of factors that may point to to more secure projects.

That's because his contract is up. Their contracts aren't yet but they will go when they are (unless we can find a buyer sooner).

Can’t help but feel our time as the dominate club in England is done.

Prob some think I’m being dramatic but here are my thoughts.

It was a perfect storm when Pep arrived. We had kdb, David silva, fern, Kompany, sterling aguero etc all starving and hungry for success.

We added walker, ederson, Bernardo, Gundo, mahrez to that and we became almost unbeatable.

Now those players are old or have left and the replacements we have signed simply haven’t been good enough.

We will still win the odd cup and challenge for the league but won’t dominate like we had done. It was great whilst it lasted.
