Morgan Gibbs-White

The City of old would have been at the table for players like Neves or Vitinha. They had Rodri at the club whilst Fernandinho was there. They've become reactive rather than proactive and their spending in recent years has been more and more erratic.

I hope Gibbs-White proves me wrong, but they've used their resources appalling in recent years.
Rodri is a bad example. He was slated to fuck in his first season with us, and a lot of people said he'd never be good enough to replace Fernandinho. Most of our top players were not household names when we signed them; they became household names after joining us. It hasn't worked out in recent years, but let's not pretend that we've always signed ready-made stars, because we haven't.

He's a very, very good player. Would just feel a touch under-whelming. I'd prefer Morgan Rogers of the two who has a similar profile.

You’ve completely proven my point. We aren’t ‘likkle’ (grow up) City anymore. We are now with the elite. With that comes elite players choosing elite clubs. Wirtz, if that’s we are talking about, has chosen an elite club in his homeland over an elite club in a foreign land.

Your quote about those who we signed in the start of this, when we weren’t elite club, came here for money and the chance of success. Dint be fooled by that.

Which is exactly what my point is.

If we miss out on an elite player, we go for another elite player. We miss out on another elite player, we go for the next best elite player. If you don't aim for the best, you'll never keep your place at the top.

Nothing wrong with showing ambition. We have sheikhs petro dollars, the pull of Pep Guardiola and the chance of winning trophies.

Newsflash: Players join clubs for money and success. They don't join a club to play for free.

A Pep player used to be players who were technically sound. Nowadays its someone who wont take risks :(

It's players who run and have "energy".

I just want us to go back to buying the very best technical players we can get on the market. I'm so bored of watching us play nowadays.

Comparisons to Nunes are silly, he was a panic buy in the last week of the window after we failed to sign several targets and KDB got injured. It was immediately clear that Pep considered him no more than an extra body.

It's been clear since March that Gibbs-White was a target.

Sheikhs petro dollars.

Rag ****. Fuck off.

Remember what all the experts were saying when we signed kdb there were also digs when we signed walker and I'm sure there was many more. Nobody knows how it will work out if we do sign him. Playing in a better team might take him to another level.
The thing is, anyone who wasn't blind and could spot a player knew KDB and Walker were top players.

MGW, is a level below those players, he's alright but he's not elite.

Reijnders on the other hand, is a top player.

I really hope we don't end up with this guy. He is nowhere near good enough for us. I'd go as far to say he isn't better than what we currently have which says it all.

He's better than our washed up players.

Is he as good as them when they weren't washed? No. That's my problem with it.

I said earlier in the thread, it's not about replacing the current version of Gundo etc? That's easy to do. It's about finding players who can be as good as they used to be, if we have ambitions to be the best side again.

Lol

Walker was one of the best in the world in his position, not some mug

Kevin had a brilliant season at Wolfsburg

As for your last line, we have seen better team experience works -Phillips and Nunes are still there

Fuck knows why we appointed viana seems there is more on this forum better qualified to decide who we should sign and who we shouldn't.

Tbf I've never watched reijnders play all I do know is he's playing in a league where players like Scott mctominay Billy gilmour and henrik mhykitarian are standing out so it's not a top level. We have to trust the guys at the top. I do still feel it will be next summer when we see the big rebuild when stones ake gundo bernardo walker are all out of contract and maybe more.

We are pretty clearly attempting to sign Reijnders, so this comment is pretty confusing.

And saying that Gibbs-White isn't on de Bruyne's level isn't saying that you're more qualified than our Director of Football, it's a statement of fact.
