The Boxing thread

The worst thing from last night's fight was that it was a good fight, because it was close and went to points it gives them the rematch clause to fight again, Benn should never fight at 160 again and should go back to 147 and win the belts and become a world champion.

Not many thought it would be a great fight, me included, but it was an old-style toe-to-toe fight and both fighters gave it their all, I don't want a rematch and it's done for me, Both fighters at the end respected each other's skill and the score card,
He’s not even in the top handful of UK fighters at 147 let alone at world level

Going 12 rounds with a weight drained, shot version of Eubank is no achievement

He should fight the winner of Taylor Essuman to gauge his real level at 147. He’d probably lose.

The promoters have used Benn, for the past 3 years, it's been all about the Eubank fight and nothing else
Also, the ban for a failed drug test did not help his career. the thing is, Benn looked the better fighter, and going 12 rounds at that pace will do him no harm.

Benn needs to get back to 147 and fight for the title, whoever he fights he will feel a million dollars and light and powerful, No rematch for me, Eubank will probably not fight again until the end of the year or maybe in the new year, Make no bones about it, he got beat up badly and the win on points was about right not not by 4 rounds.

I am still struggling to come to terms with this whole weekend of Pay per views. It is shocking how most of these fights are either bang average match ups, fringe world levels moving up a weight to fight a like for like or just a one sided given. I didn't buy last week's circus (I did enjoy the radio commentary though, it took me back to the old days) and I ain't buying any this weekend.
I know the Saudi has done some great cards this past year but there needs to be a balance on what they try charging for

Matey, I have IPTV and still like to listen to the boxing over watching it, great commentary on both stations BBC and talksport, talksport do a live commentary table on youtube and i listen to that

I am really happy Dave Allen got that ko today, he seems like a really decent bloke and I hope he gets a chance to win the British title now. As for Fisher I think he has run his race and should call it a day before he gets seriously hurt

I never liked the fight for Fisher first time around.

The thing with Allen is he fought so many tough fights early in his career, fights he could never win. But then you put a real novice like Fisher in with him and he hasn't got any skill Allen has never seen. Hasn't got any power Allen has never felt. He's certainly not gonna intimidate him.

Once Allen gets confident in the fight, it's a pretty easy fight for him.

Allen isn't high level, but he's all wrong for a novice with no real boxing background because of all those tough fights and he's sparred most top fighters. You don't get asked to spar Usyk, Fury, AJ etc if you don't know your way around a ring.

Allen was also a decent amateur. He got offered a spot on the GB squad after 2012 but would've been third in line behind Joyce and Clark at the time, so he turned pro and took fights for money in fights way above where he was, plus he was never disciplined.

A more disciplined Allen will do well around the domestic level scene. Promoters should think carefully about putting fighters like Fisher in with him when they have nowhere near his experience.

I doubt Eddie Hearn ever thought Fisher was going to be a world beater, he was just a good ticket seller with the whole Essex boshhhhh scene.

First time he was banking on Allen turning up unprepared like he often has. The rematch was to save face because everyone knew Allen won first time.

Funny thing is Allen warned them not to put Fisher back in with him. He knew it was easy pickings with more preparation. He said it point blank and it played out like that.

Guess it doesn't matter. It was never gonna take a great fighter to flatten Fisher, so at least it happened in a headline fight where made some dough.

Eubank Jr v Benn rematch confirmed by the Ring Magazine September 20th.

160 lb middleweight division
10lb rehydration clause.
Venue unknown currently.

Could have thought Boots but didn’t fancy it from what I’ve read. I quite like the Josh Kelly fight for Benn more than the Eubank one.

Eubank to big for the weight and it’s killing him making it. He’s made unbelievable money and bar the first Eubank fight fought nobody.

I’ll be paying for it and watching it like haha.

Crazy, but we all sort of knew a rematch would happen.

the rematch will again take place at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds, with a 10-pound rehydration clause.
Eubank must be Mad ?

I would be controlling the rehydration weight limits if I were Eubank this time ?

Yes i agree with you, I think Eubank will be thinking he can do it and the money is just to good to turn down but it was hard enough making the weight never mind not rehydrating fully and will be harder next time around.

The last fight and camp will have took more out of Eubank than Benn and the one fight you can’t win is against Father Time.

So apparently their will be a third fight between the gobshite and usyk at wembley, i have no idea why, he still maintains that he didnt lose the second fight and if he has watched that back and things he didnt lose then he has no chance of winning the third

Not sure why he feels the need to be outboxed 3 on the bounce but each to their own.........

Taylor v Serrano 3 up shortly on Netflix.

Potential to be another fight of the year contender.

Shame for Savanah Marshall to lose on the undercard felt tight to me..

Baumgardner v Miranda is a proper brawl on now.
