I am really happy Dave Allen got that ko today, he seems like a really decent bloke and I hope he gets a chance to win the British title now. As for Fisher I think he has run his race and should call it a day before he gets seriously hurt
I never liked the fight for Fisher first time around.
The thing with Allen is he fought so many tough fights early in his career, fights he could never win. But then you put a real novice like Fisher in with him and he hasn't got any skill Allen has never seen. Hasn't got any power Allen has never felt. He's certainly not gonna intimidate him.
Once Allen gets confident in the fight, it's a pretty easy fight for him.
Allen isn't high level, but he's all wrong for a novice with no real boxing background because of all those tough fights and he's sparred most top fighters. You don't get asked to spar Usyk, Fury, AJ etc if you don't know your way around a ring.
Allen was also a decent amateur. He got offered a spot on the GB squad after 2012 but would've been third in line behind Joyce and Clark at the time, so he turned pro and took fights for money in fights way above where he was, plus he was never disciplined.
A more disciplined Allen will do well around the domestic level scene. Promoters should think carefully about putting fighters like Fisher in with him when they have nowhere near his experience.
I doubt Eddie Hearn ever thought Fisher was going to be a world beater, he was just a good ticket seller with the whole Essex boshhhhh scene.
First time he was banking on Allen turning up unprepared like he often has. The rematch was to save face because everyone knew Allen won first time.
Funny thing is Allen warned them not to put Fisher back in with him. He knew it was easy pickings with more preparation. He said it point blank and it played out like that.
Guess it doesn't matter. It was never gonna take a great fighter to flatten Fisher, so at least it happened in a headline fight where made some dough.
