True … tho I think he’s earned his place. When you think about it. He won’t play much next season if we get the right players. But his age, strength, running power is still valuable. He can be our Delph imo. But since Pep doesn’t wanr a big squad I guess he’ll have to go

Is that "balanced"?

It's ridiculously narrow formation and puts Foden at RW again

Haven't seen Cambiasso play but form what I hear he liked to invert

Are we gonna sign a RB? You'd say we have to but we've been saying that about LB for years...because Lewis will want to invert and Nunes really isn't a defender

Foden will be a right winger. He's not creative enough to be a 10.. and we have years of evidence.

He's not just magically going to become a 15-20 assist a season player. Even in his POTY season he only had 8 assists.

So we know he'll provide goals from the right, we just need creative players in the middle who can provide the assists as this season.. they're mostly coming from Savinho, Nunes and KDB.
 
Gundo, Silva, Stones, Ederson or Ortega they all need to go and I don't see them have that big chans of getting game time next season

Kuz is better then stones, younger and need game time.
I hope we sign a keeper
With Rodri back and with Nico and Kova we do have the defensive midfield well-covered so gundo need to go.
And the most important thing is the creativity we don't have that, the cover is not that good either. Grealish?

Where should O’reilly or
Mcatee play?

As much as it hurts maybe we need to let Grealish and Mcatee go just don't se them getting game time either, Foden, Doku, Savinho, Marmoush all ranked higher, don't think mcatee should play as winger either would Like to see him in the center like O’reilly so maybe get them a Chans there
So Silva got no place either.

And the new Argentinian where should he play? Bobb need game time aswell.

Again thats kinda the problem isn't it, Foden isn't someone who's gonna get assists and Marmoush doenst have any either

So whos the creative focal point? Cambiasso isn't a creator as a FB, Reijnders isn't a creator either, MGW has some ok stats but he excels o nthe counter, he won't create against a deep block

So we've got 4 of our midfield who'd rather score than assist with full backs who won't wanna either, it's not exactly balanced

And without any creators whats the point of Haaland, if he's not getting supplied he's pretty limited

We need a #10, a proper one, and if it's not Foden it's not MGW either at least for the level we aspire to be

I say balanced because I’m hoping the right back (if we sign one) will be a traditional wing back, cambiasso can do both however I’m hoping pep pushes towards overlapping with Marmoush and Foden cutting inside, with Rodri Reijnders and MGW around the edge of the box to recycle possession I can see it being very successful.

However who knows what pep has up his sleeves lol, what ever he does I trust him

Why are you judging Nunes's performances on a position he was not signed for and has been forced to play. If you apply that criteria you should also get rid of Gvardiol as he has been responsible for as many cock-ups as Nunes playing as a full-back
 
If Guardiola gets his way and we go with a smaller squad, then he's probably going to look for versatility again. That means the fullback situation will likely be solved with one player, say Cambiaso, with Nunes, Lewis, O'Reilly, and Gvardiol rotating. That should give him enough versatility and permutations to work domestically, but whether there's enough attacking threat and defensive acumen for games against Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Paris St Germain, well that would be much less clear.

This is part of the problem as I see it. You can afford the odd cock-up by a player not playing in his natural position in a full league season as there is an in-built margin of error but that does not exist to the same extent in a Cup competition. That's why Pep's brain farts are so costly in Cups.
 
I think we need to get squad numbers down before we add a few. That splurge in January has really bloated the squad to an unmanageable number. Still Walker and Phillip's to come back as well.
The players who I can see leaving are Ederson, Stones, Phillip's, Walker, Grealish, Mcatee, some loans as well like Reis, Khusanov possibly season long ones

All about opinions but I see nothing in Nunes - clearly he’s not a full back and his time with us has knocked his confidence but I just don’t see him getting game time in our midfield. He really does look to be one of those players that has an error in him and at the highest level you need to mitigate those risks. In different circumstances his error on Tuesday could have been fatal.

Surely Gvardiol's was even worse given the amount of time left in the game?

Despite playing out of position Gvardiol has been one of the few highlights this season…. Not sure I’d compare his performances with those of Nunes.

Gvardiol is already on the cusp of being world class. Nunes is a good footballer and surprisingly versatile but he will never be world class
