Florian Wirtz

These winter window deals will only look bad if they were done with only the immediate in mind. They appear to be longer term especially Khusanov and Reis. Marmoush’s quality is already obvious. Nico will flourish with more time/paired with Rodri. Wirtz going to Liverpool certainly stings but City started doing their business in January. They aren’t one to two players away at this point.
Fair points but we haven’t been good in the market and the strategy failed us. Two bad years in the market have caught up with us and this is the pay off. Albeit many clubs would gladly swop with us

It shouldnt of been allowed to happen. We should have been most attractive club in england. If any players wants to play in england it should be us they dream of playing for. We were at the pinnacle after the treble and have gone backwards rapidly
Club is toxic at the moment.

Playing shite football, fans hate the board, a disjointed dressing room, managerial uncertainties, and whether we like it or not a pending outcome of a case that if we are guilty of will send the club into pandemonium.

One good season they have had
Fuck me if we signed kerkez, frimpong and wirtz i wouldn’t be thinking we’re gonna dominate.
They need the two full backs to replace the ones they had.
Nunez was the forward they needed a few years ago
Salah or van dijk injury and they are still fucked
I’ve seen a bunch here claiming that if we get Wirtz + Reijnders and 2 others that we would
Dominate. Now it never happened. Weird

A bit too much truth to this.

Everything accelerated by an extremely arrogant strategy after the treble

Another thing I will add is I do actually think now we have won the lot we aren’t as attractive either.

May sounds strange but it’s attractive for players to be apart of something or feel they are the missing link to achieve something special. Given we have won everything those ambitious players are likely to want to dethrone us rather than join an “easier” project. I feel that is why rice wanted arsenal along with the location

May be bollocks just a though

For the reported £130m or whatever it is, you can see why City might have pulled out when we need half a squad not one marquee player.

Even if he has just chosen Liverpool ahead of us, how can you blame him? They’re a big club, just won the league, they’re on the up with a new manager.

Our manager looks like he’s slowly losing his marbles and we’ve been on a big decline.

The same reason we got Haaland ahead of everyone else, we were the top dogs and on the up.

And likewise I don’t blame the club for not getting him, in either case.

Real Madrid says this is bollocks

I disagree we are desperate for creativity. We need legs and power in the midfield and Gibbs White and Reijnders have that in abundance.
we are signing Europa league standard players while they’re signing Champions league standard
City have lacked any type of ambition in the transfer market since we won the CL

WOW that's some statement (based entirely on your opinion) Toxic ffs get a life
What is opinion based? Half the dressing room can’t even communicate with one another, Pep is on a short term contract, football is numbing to the point of lobotomisation, and the outcome of a negative verdict would indeed send the club into pandemonium.

Are Liverpool paying the asking price ? 150 million euros plus wages.. Questions

Manchester City get hammered in the media about a transfer of this size with FFP and PSR
Liverpool are not a bigger club than Manchester City in terms of revenue and is in debt ?

Last Season, Klopp came out and said Liverpool doesn't buy mega-money signings like City because we just don't have the resources and putting the club in danger ?
Yes - all very strange. Maybe they're planning to sell their ladies team :-)

Don’t disagree but I think you can look at the winter moves with a bit more optimism.

Marmoush- will only get better and he was fantastic from the moment he arrived

Khusanov - made a singular (yet large) mistake but showed real ability with speed, anticipation, and physicality. He looks the part. It’s not like our back line was flawless this year either.

Reis - this one is curious. As an American, this feels like a college player redshirting and just getting him acclimating to the environment. Maybe he goes out on loan. TBD.

Nico - looks like he can be a real contributor next to Rodri and hopefully the odd break for him too. With some of the older midfielders getting moved out, he’ll get more regular minutes.

Look, no one is going to be anywhere near a replacement for KDB and that includes Wirtz. It does bring back memories of the transfer saga with Wolfsburg and Allofs. He was a real bastard through that whole transfer.
