Jill Roord joins FC Twente. Doesn’t feel like the loss it would have pre ACL injury. She just hasn’t found her place in the team since then. You’d like to think we have a big replacement lined up though I’d imagine we’re less likely to recruit a number 10 now and will focus more on a DM

Prior to Mary Fowler's injury I reckoned we'd got 8 players covering 4 forward positions (Shaw Miedema Fowler Hemp Fujino Kerolin Roord Park), which without CL football could have left a couple in the Chloe-Kelly-zone.
Now we're effectively down to 6 (Roord gone & Fowler basically out for the season), which is only okay IF we're lucky with injuries.

When we signed Roord I honestly thought she would be the missing link that took us to another level. Then came her injury! I am still sad by this because there is no doubt when she is 100% fit she is one of the best goal scoring midfielders in the women's game. I did notice in her last few appearances she was checking out of contact tackles - I assumed it to be a hang over from her ACL injury but perhaps she knew she was off to new pastures. I do remember when we signed her she had a reputation of only staying at a club for a short time.

Moving forward I have to hope that Theresa has a bigger plan and that a new coach is already aware of squad building. Last season we lacked a strong presence in the middle and just relied on Yui to do everything. Park and Coombs are nowhere near being the answer in the middle and we were so exposed to transitions and pace. I live in hope that we move forward and have identified signings already - in midfield Oyama for example looks a decent prospect but again doesn't look powerful enough to build around Yui. Even this 7's tournament showed that the best teams are powerful and play aggressively - we didn't and were exposed, ultimately losing games with similar errors that have plagued the season just gone.

If the club stick with Cushing or similar and continue to play the same way - that is possession first backwards orientated with the keeper being the out ball all the time I think we may as well give up. On the other hand if letting go a player who clearly sees a future elsewhere is part of a plan to sign some really top talent with a dynamic thinking coach then I'm all in.

I am sorry to see her go. It will be difficult to replace her, especially with no champs league football and not knowing who the next manager will be.

First line of the last paragraph I very much agree with!

Has there ever been a more narcissistic female footballer than Mary Earps?

I've seen some videos of her where she thinks she's class. Now given England the elbow because she's not number 1.

I wish she was still at the rags though. Their US goalkeeper really made a difference last season.

Just seen this, what a poor example to set, I'm not number so I'm not playing. Fuck me she got awards for saving a shit penalty and now does this to her team mates and country

Typical Rag player that the Rag BBC seemed to do a constant over the top PR campaign for and still doing it with 2 articles today on her.
Would just have been just another player with no media coverage if she played for any other team

Are they…. So many Rag related articles on the BBC site at the minute. Some of the stuff on Earps is sycophantic in the extreme. Seems she singularly inspired every female keeper on the planet !
My 13 year old daughter is a GK. I can confirm, Earps did not inspire her. Nor is she her football/GK beau ideal. :)

Managed to get my daughter and I two tickets for England Vs Jamaica. Anyone know if Bunny will have recovered from injury by then?

Was hoping for Alessandro Spugna the former AS Roma Manager out of the names talked about but Andrée Jeglertz still looks a strong appointment.
