These conversations always need context…

If we are intent on getting back to been an elite team, then we need to sign 3 or 4 world class players that will start every game. That's at the least.

He isn't that. Now, it could be argued we put him into the “give the lad a chance bracke” like we did for Phillips, nunes, doku, savinho etc.

However we are way past that point, we can't afford that risk anymore.

He's good in tight spaces, highly technical, but has none of the pace, power and aggression we badly lack in the team.

His stats are his stats, but you do have to take them with a pinch of salt. How many times have we seen amazing stats from lesser leagues.

I just think we need to aiming way better.
Genuine question, which players do you think have been considered world class when we bought them?

Manchester City are keen to secure Rayan Cherki for the Club World Cup. A first offer is expected to land on OL's desk next week, but the player has yet to reach an agreement or make a decision.

To be fair just seen a list of AMs.

Bellingham, Wirtz, Musiala are the top 3.

Cherki is 17 , nearby Bernardo and Madison.

He is however on the way up unlike the other two.

Difficult to project where he'll be in 2 years but probably worth a gamble

Info @lequipe
There's no agreement between Cherki and City, who have made the Lyon player their priority at number 10. The Citizens have made inquiries with former coaches, notably Pierre Sage, and could make an initial offer next week.

Due diligence you say?

Is that the lesser league whose champions beat every English team in the CL?

It’s that time of the year when all the 16 year old director's of football come out to play, exams almost done with so a summer of second guessing highly respected professionals it is.

Pace and power are the buzz words of the fledgling DoF’s this year with a sprinkling of other buzz word bingo they’ve seen one of the chin stroking football European experts spout on pod casts meanwhile the older lags are busy making puns up and asking if said player tracks back.

Another year in BM transfer paradise:-)

Given the reported price and his potential to be one of the best players in the world, this seems like a no-brainer to me.

I'd say very few, maybe Haaland. I think people knew how special agurro and Silva were.

I think that's probably my biggest disappointment with us in the transfer market, I get why signing potential had to be our model pre and mid pep, but once we had elevated ourselves I feel like we missed a trick in not kicking on and actually buying “off the peg players”

Especially when your in a good position. That's my worry now, we don't really have room for error, the team and squad are such that we really need Top signings, as close to as sure thing as we can.

Plus I don't think he's the style of player we need. We have plenty of players who show to feet and are good in small spaces, we need aggressive physical fwd runners.

Just my thoughts for what it's worth.

The €25m release clause was actually a gentleman’s agreement apparently. Hence the new €40m price being quoted.

Still a bargain even at that price. A year left on his deal(?) and Lyon being in trouble financially probably means it’ll be ironed out quite quickly.

The talk of him not yet making a decision - I doubt we’re doing due diligence and making a bid without knowing he wants to come.

If a bid goes in, he wants us and it’ll get sorted eventually. Just a matter of waiting for that initial bid to start the charade.

It’s almost as if he hasn’t watch him play or he is talking about a different player!

His posts will be funny as fuck in a few years time.
Well to be fair, I genuinely hope your digging up messages and your giving me some grief, aka Tommo and merse style on KDB. As he's proved to be a blinding signing.

I don't think he's the level or style of player we need.

Its only speculation.

City going to iron out Lyon ! bloody crikey, should use this tactic on TV pundits and certain journos, love to read and/or see Spitty, Delooney, Ginger Mentalist Harris and a few others getting tuned in.
