PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'll tell you what's going through my suspicious mind currently. That the outcome is known and has been for a couple of months. I've said this before and I'm standing by that (until I'm told otherwise). There was too much noise around March time for there not to be some smoke, even if the fire didn't catch hold.

When you read that MEN piece Link (and maybe I'm reading it wrong or with confirmation bias) there's a couple of things that stand out. The first is this phrase -
"it has now been five without a published result". Note that word 'published'. To me that implies there has been a result but it hasn't yet been published. The other thing is Khaldoon's tone, which is "be patient, it's coming". The impression I get from that is he knows the result but things just have to take their course. But what is that course?

I'm going to speculate that this outcome is so bad for one or more parties that they are finished.

For the party most obviously at risk, his employer may have been quietly head-hunting his successor, who might have to be more experienced at crisis-management than marketing. Another party who may be at risk is involved with a club that's had, for them, a successful season by winning a trophy at the end of the season and they didn't want anything to detract from that. Maybe it suits us to wait until the CWC is done and dusted, as we don't want any distractions before then.

As I said, this is pure speculation but could explain the situation.

My take is the outcome hasn’t been formally provided but we know the way the wind has blown.

Our movements in the markets strike me as a club who are very content nothing to worry about is coming our way.

Very likely.

My take is that I don't give a flying fuck how long it takes. It will be announced when it is announced and we won't know if there is, was or could have been any hold-up for any reason. Unless the new PL CEO starts leaking ..... ;)

Some people have professional opinions, some people have heard things, some people are using their common sense to derive a likely scenario, some people are guessing. All good. But it's a bit like the transfer forum in here these days.

It would be a gross dereliction of duty for any tribunal decision maker to task anyone with writing their determination for them. In cases such as this, these determinations are incredibly complex expositions which require a hugely layered and nuanced narrative in order to get the findings across in a way that is cogent, logical, coherent and as appeal proof as possible. They are essentially a novel where all the pieces of the plot need to fit together. Any worthwhile novelist wouldn’t get their PA to write their story for them - why would any tribunal member?

And no disrespect to anyone else, but these people are intellectually on a level that the vast majority of people within the legal profession, never mind the wider public, would be unable to formulate the appropriate form of words to express the conclusions based on the assimilation of huge quantities of material incorporating extremely complex legal issues.

A judgment, if it is well written and considered, truly is a thing of beauty and something to be both respected and admired. Why would any self respecting judge or tribunal member want to put that important and far-reaching undertaking in the hands of someone else?
Jeffrey Archer begs to differ

I’ve been thru the bins outside the commission’s office and I can sensationally report that someone there eats an awful lot of wine gums.

I do not think either side know the outcome or if they do it will have only be known recently.

Just my opinion due to most court/tribunal outcomes being released to the public (with their only being limited reasons not to do so). Considering the previous ruling being made public when city and PL both requested otherwise I cannot see why the result would be held back.

It can sometimes be up to a fortnight before publication from courts but personally cannot see that both sides have known the outcome for months or even have any say when the outcome is made public.

Not a lawyer, so not up to speed on the procedural aspects of the decision and its publication, but I would be staggered if the club have received anything yet from the panel.
However, I did find Khaldoon’s demeanour very interesting. I know he is a world class operator and plays high stakes politics superbly, but he is human. This year he came across as calm, positive and excited for the future.
On the 115, he was measured and unruffled. Previously, he had seemed a lot more aggressive, along the lines of ‘when this is over I’m going to let you know exactly what I think’. He now sounds comfortable that the right outcome will be reached.

As many have pointed out, the owners have invested properly, professionally and wisely in this football club to promote Etihad particularly to a global audience. Why the fuck would they piss about with, for them and the size of their investment, tiny amounts of money breaking the law or league rules?

My one worry would be that some fuckwit at the club went off piste and did something stupid without the knowledge of the board or higher organisation.

In the big picture though, as the Chairman says - it’s all down to trust. He’s got mine.

A fortnight? Hmmm - as long as that!

This is an Independent Tribunal btw appointed by the PL which completed its hearing last year. The ruling will only be published when both sides agree and have had the opportunity to clarify its content. Think most people understand the losing party will want to delay the announcement for as long as possible but the substantive outcome would have been made clear by the respective legal teams long, long ago.

Fret not, all will be well.

If City have won. Then they owe the PL nothing by keeping it quiet. But showing a bit of class will do us no harm.

What I don't get is this.

The same people that believe we have known the winning verdict for months, based on our apparent demeanour of general confidence, implied supposed aggression towards and tone of disdain of the PL - also then believe that we would do the PL such a big favour of courtesy, to sit on this for months!

Willingly allowing them time to get their shit together for an announcement that is least damaging to them, meanwhile ourselves enduring months of damaging speculation and innuendo surrounding the club, fans, and the team, at a time when we were fighting to save our season. Despite... the very same apparent demeanour of general confidence, implied supposed aggression towards and tone of disdain of the PL.

Aye, ok guys, makes total sense!
