PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

This thread has gone off track we need a separate one for this new rule :D

but as its already off track ill contribute further to the madness.

City's total wage bill for 2023/2024 season according to spotrac is around 220m. Assuming we sell players and buy players i don't see what the issue is if we have a cap of 500 mil? Assuming that the cap also includes all costs for other club related wages assume 100 mil for coaches staff etc then you still have 180 mil left over for our brown envelope payments :D...but in all seriousness can someone explain the negative of the cap other than the obvious one of dictating how a business can spend its own money (which i agree is madness)
I've seen £200m mentioned & several other figures in between up to £400m. If we're allowed five times the £105m spend of the lowest PL earner, does this include just transfers, transfers & wages, or transfer, wages & agents fees? Also are player sales revenue a mitigating factor?

Yet again, the fuckin bellends haven't thought this one through, have they?

Jeez. So how did Irish players like Brady & others develop if other sports were banned?

Didn't the Irish also have an international football team pre-1970s. I'm genuinely intrigued, as I wasn't aware there was a football ban in Ireland.
Apologies to the Mods for going off topic but just to reply in three quick paragraphs...

The ban was imposed by the GAA. Effectively, you couldn't play or attend any foreign sports if you wanted to play Gaelic Games. For "foreign games" you can effectively read English sports.

It was brought about mainly for two reasons. Firstly, to protect the indigenous sports (remember, this was first implemented in the early 1900s during a time that was known as the Celtic Revival (a cultural fight back to centuries of oppression that had begun with the Penal Laws in the 1600s)).
Secondly, British Armed Forces have an abysmal and shameful record with regard to Gaelic Games. From incidents like Bloody Sunday in 1920 when they indiscriminately shot into the crowd at Croke Park all the way to regularly smashing hurleys at routine checkpoints and driving armoured cars onto/ landing helicopters on pitches, throughout Northen Ireland, in the middle of matches - not for any obvious military or strategic purposes but just because they wanted to act the ****.

While the GAA had (and still does have) a huge cultural influence on Ireland, the ban was never an official government mandate. Legally, you could play any sport you wanted to play. For the reasons stated above, it was a well-supported move until relations between the two countries matured.

Not everyone obeyed the ban. In the city of Limerick, people played whatever they liked (rugby union being especially popular) and, by and large, a blind eye was usually turned. Most garrison towns were the same.

Sportac is unadulterated nonsense. It's just a mix of guesses, rumours, newspaper reports, and the odd bit of inside info. Problem is that the figures are hundreds of millions a year out for all the big clubs, so all that work and it's essentially a big pile of pointless shit.

Our wage will is in our accounts, and it's £423m. That was the treble year, so it's quite possible it contains higher bonuses, but it does show why the limit of around £550m could be tricky.

I'm shocked, but on the same level I'm not surprised. Personally I can't wait for the day when we do the right thing & allow Ireland to become whole again, & without any British interference.

I get why the Irish put these bans in place now, but yet again it's Politics & religion fuckin up people's lives & futures the world over... Fuckin sick of it!

I may have misunderstood you, but that doesn't mean the bottom club could only spend £100m and we could spend £500m. It means everybody is limited to £500m

Our annual wage bill is about £200m and we have recently spent £50m on agents fees per season, so that leaves us £250m to spend on players

That's seems more than enough seeing as Pep has spent on average about £150m per season since he's been at the club, but that doesn't even account for transfers out. Seems more than enough to keep us going as we are

Not sure your figures are correct.

If it's capped at x4.5 then we'd have to restrict spending. If it's x5 then we'd have little room to maneuver. (assuming his figures are near correct.)

BUT, what's contained in the £530m calculation? Just transfers, transfers & wages, transfer wages & agents fees, & now you mention it, does that include bonuses too? And what about player sales mitigation?

Im not going to judge the rules until I understand them more but the point above about bonuses is quite interesting, lets assume for a minute that we are on for the treble next season and it comes down to the CL final, if we win it then the whole playing squad gets a bonus that suddenly puts us outside of the permitted spend. Given the players are all on contracts written before these rules came into affect, where the hell does this go.
Do we get to a situation where players get told to throw a CL final just to ensure the club comply to a set of rules like this?

Exactly! In yet ANOTHER desperate attempt to nobble City, they've not thought any of this through.

The interesting aspect of all of this is the Rags. They've voted against these proposals, so where will they stand with their fellow cartel members if these idiotic rules are ratified & adopted?
