If that were the case, wouldn't Newcastle come out and flat out state that he's not going anywhere? I don't know the math, but they also still need to move someone for PSR. You’ve just inadvertently hit the nail on the head. City are not pissing about this summer. We must know he’d want the move if we can agree a fee with Newcastle otherwise we would have moved on straight away. Likewise, if Newcastle had categorically told us to fuck off we would have moved on.

Should be after Ola Aina if we can’t get this guy, he’s the only other homegrown right back after Livaremento and Frimpong that is any good or attainable
Only issue with Aina is that we'd lose him as well as Ait Nouri when AFCON kicks off in December. Agreed he'd be a great option and wouldn't cost too much since he has a one year extension like Ait Nouri does.

However, money talks and players walk, so you never know. Not sure we'll be able to afford 80m after signing our other targets.
Newcastle aren't gonna be a selling club for much longer if we win our FFP case.
We hate it when Real Madrid or Barcelona come sniffing round our players so if Newcastle say they're not interested in selling we should be respectful and walk away unless Livranento is hankering for a move this summer, which he isn't right now. But things could change....
Neither Newcastle or Livramento have said anything so there's no reason to think a move is dead. The club are probably focused on getting Reijnders, Ait Nouri and Cherki in for the CWC and will move on to Livramento and MGW once those first few are in.
