Unfortunately his time has come to leave, just taken far too long to make the break through, he can still have a great career in the PL, 30-40m to a newly promoted side, he will look a great player and then he can move again if they get relegated, Bournemouth/Brentford/BHA

I agree with your post. Need only look at the link below to see how important the youth set up is for us. The very best will come through, the second tier and below will find a great career elsewhere. If I were a parent of a kid looking for a future in the game I would be delighted to be offered a development contract at City.
I'd counter that currently - are we giving enough of those young players a proper chance currently.
Not saying we have generational talent coming through all the time, and it may be an outlier, but look at what PSG did this season.
They tried the "galaticos", ditched it and found hungry hard working players with skills. They've spent in planned areas - which seems to be our plot this window

If what I read is right,Everton are monitoring , I was quite excited by the prospect until I read this thread !!!. Though to be fair, what your fanbase consider is bang average is probably a bit different these days.
Silly season for transfer rumours, wait and see I guess

He needs a proper run of games and a bit of patience.
Something he won't get at City as there is too much competition and pressure.
Still think he can be an international quality player.

He isn't average, he a very good attacking midfielder, once again played as a hybrid winger when started, which hasn't been often.

If Everton sign him you are getting a real talent

I hear their opening offer was 50p a week for the next 300 years and a signed pair of Fred the red undercrackers, they've spent the rest of the budget on a new bread in for the players canteen

I heard it was a second hand bread bin that Scruffy Jim got from a car boot sale, so they may have another £2 or so to tempt James.

He's a player who could go and get 15 a season for someone if he can tie it all together. The potential is there, it's now time for him to go and realise it somewhere

I think Everton would be a good match for him. He's a nice player, passes well, can get half a yard and has a goal in him. Can just fade out.a bit but think he will lose that with maturity.. Related to Alan Ball too, something for the oldies.

I think he's exactly the sort of player who will blossom if given some patience and a proper run in a decent team. Unfortunately, he just won't get that leeway with us. He's got skills, there's no question about it. Very quick with his feet. Doesn't impose himself enough in matches at present. Physically, he needs to fill out a bit and above all, he needs to fill out in terms of confidence. I'm not trying to big City up and sound like a dickhead, but I seriously think he's a bit overawed with us, and can't find his proper place in the team. Could do very well in a team that's improving, like yours. He is absolutely not bang average.

McAtee has real talent, but hasn't pulled it all together yet. What he needs at this stage more than anything is consistent minutes.

Everton are a good fit for him, I think. He might not reach his potential, but there's plenty to be excited about if you do end up signing him.
