David Beckham gets knighted (after being snubbed for years)! apparently

Can you imagine meeting him at the pub, saying ‘David you must have some great stories to tell’ only for him to come out with ‘Well, erm yeah ya know erm it’s been good’
"What's that's famous London railway station?"

"Euston?"

"No."

"Paddington?"

"No."

"Charing Cross?"

"No."

"Victoria?"

"That's it! Victoria do I have any great stories to tell?"

Captained England for over 5 years, Supports a number of charities and various projects -
Founding member of Malaria no more, charitable trust which provides wheelchairs to children in need and appointed as a UNICEF ambassador, has raised hundreds of thousands for NSPCC.

- Beckham has played a crucial role in UNICEF’s work to save and improve the lives of children. Key Highlights include:

  • In 2005, David Beckham helped launch an appeal and pack emergency supplies for children affected by the Tsunami
at UNICEF’s supply division in Copenhagen.
  • In 2008 David visited Sierra Leone to launch UNICEF’s State of the World’s Children report to focus global attention on
    dying before their fifth birthday.
  • In 2009 David visited South Africa to see UNICEF’s work with children and families living with HIV and AIDS
  • In 2011 David helped launch UNICEF UK’s appeal for the East African food crisis.
  • In 2012 David delivered an open letter with over 50 high profile signatories to UK Prime Minister David Cameron ahead of
a global hunger summit – helping to secure a commitment by world leaders to reduce child malnutrition by 2016.
  • David helped to launch UNICEF’s appeal for Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, in which 1.7 million children were displaced and
many lost their lives. David also travelled to the Philippines to meet children and families affected by the typhoon.
  • In 2014 David recorded a video message supporting UNICEF’s fight to beat Ebola, which was broadcast across
Sierra Leone, one of the worst-affected countries, reaching over 2 million people.
He has personally donated millions and his fund, the 7 Foundation, has raised millions more. He also donated his Paris Saint-Germain wages of about £1.5 million to a French children’s hospital.

has just become an ambassador for The King’s Foundation - which has education programmes and helps ensure young people have greater access to nature.
If even a fraction of the above was true it would have been filmed, and he would be paid for it being filmed then interviewed by Gordon Ramsey in LA! (and he would be wearing a UNICEF Tshirt)

So a lot more than your average bod.

Never had a problem with Beckham. The mental strength to go on and create the career he did after the shit after 1998 is quite the thing.
Mental strength? the daft twat got him self sent off for kicking an opposition player!

Stuart Pearce had mental strength by insisting he took a penalty again in Euro 96!

Ederson has has won 7 more trophies in English football than Beckham, whilst also revolutionizing the role of a Goalkeeper!

Beckham wore a skirt and changed his hair for attention!

Services to football my arse! ha

Hated him as a rag footballer but he seems to be one of the less hateable ones in retirement. Seems a nice enough, simple soul, a good dad and, i thought, lining up to pay his respects to the queen rather than dodging the queue like Phil and Holly was a touch of class. Also did his bit for the 2012 Olympic bid and always seems to promote the country well. Good luck to the rag bastard.
he was dead unlucky that the press knew just where he was in the line when waiting to pay his respects. and as for the 2012 Olympics he sat on a boat during the opening ceremony pretending he was James Bond!

I was referring to the role he played in the successful bidding process. He didn't meed to do that.

Everything he does is for himself.
Remember the opening ceremony of the 20O2 Commonwealth Games? Everyone involved wore the games outfits. But that twat would only turn up wearing his Addidas blazoned outfit.
The organisers there and then should have told him to fuck off but instead they bowed to his demands.

He jumped the shark when the queen died and was conveniently filmed queuing up like Joe Public in a “disguise”.

And how much did he get for doing it?

Don’t forget he was also an ambassador for Kuwait during the last World Cup too.
The man whores himself out to whoever dangles the dollar…..

Would have been different had Sinfield played union.

In all reality, it probably wouldn't.
RU doesn't collect many knighthoods either - Beaumont, Edwards and Gerald Davies are about it recently, McGeechan was 15 years ago, Woodward over 20.

NZ give a few out too, but nearly all are for social activity or administration.

George Michael went to extreme lengths to keep his Charity work discrete, apparently he did this because he didn't wan't the charities to be effected/hounded by the press wanting stories about him being gay! His charity foundation donated £6,000 a day last year or £2.6m a year 10 years after his death. He didn't get a knighthood, he was hounded by the press (far worse than Beckham BTW) for being gay and wanting a private life!

Freddie Mercury donated over £12m for Aids awareness in his life and defined Live Aid! He wasn't allowed to die in peace by the press until he admitted he had Aids! He also wasn't Knighted!

David Beckham invited the press to his wedding, trademarked the name 'Goldenballs', wore a skirt, got interviewed of Ali G, Goes to the Met Gala and currently tells anyone that listens that his eldest son is fell out with him! but hates the press. His Knighthood is long overdue apparently!
