Nobody deserves that, but if it happens when you have put your own children in that position then you are culpable because of that action.

At what age though? Sure from around twelve kids used to be left alone for a short while on occasion, with strict instructions and usually a friendly neighbour keeping an eye out. Not at three years of age and younger though.

To me the really strange thing about it, though, is doing it in a completely strange place, where you have absolutely no idea who's walking around. Doing it in your own home, your own neighbourhood, where you presumably know people and maybe have a few who are friendly towards you — well I wouldn't do it, even then, not when my son was at that age. But I could understand it a bit more.
But in a hotel, on holiday?? No way would I have done that. That said, I don't think anyone on here has the right to be vindictive towards them. Assuming they didn't do it — and you have to, if you believe in the rule of innocent until proven guilty (which I do) — they must have been through unimaginable grief in the many intervening years. There must be not one day when they don't beat themselves up about it. Every single time I see the photo of that lovely little girl I think that.
And that's the single and only contribution I'll make on this thread, because I don't know these people, and don't believe in judging them.

I think they are pretty sure that's he's the guy, unfortunately a little bit of leaning on is a no go these days.

Or which was another good one which a few went with. Gerry managed to open the local Pet Cremortoriam and do away with her there. Getting rid of every ounce of potential DNA too.

I heard on the Radio they have to have him in court by summer - if they have no concrete evidence and it looks that way then he will be tried on the raping a pensioner charges.

The last weeks digging was a last desperate act to get the evidence - I also heard that the digging was done by the German Police but the Portugese Police drove them to the spot and when the Germans began the Portugese were seen talking amongst themselves and shrugging their shoulders in a "don't know why they are bothering we found nothing" kind of style
