England v Senegal - Tue 10th June '25, 19:45 | Friendly

Not wasted my time on qualifying games or friendlies, I struggle to be interested in the finals to be honest.

Tommy Baghead eh?

In club football he normally starts well and then falls out with everyone.

Suppose with the stacked group we'll be in the finals and bumble into the knockouts but, in the 32 or 16 round someone with some idea or just much better than us will end it all.
Last 16? Gold star for optimism!

Didn't know the score until 5 minutes ago. Do t like international football as by and large it is turgid. However.....England lost to Senegal - my YouTube will be getting some hits later.

That Toney fella is shit. He had two minutes plus all the injury time to save the game and failed miserably.
Seriously, I think he should tell Tommy to get fucked if he gets selected for the next squad. All about ‘Arry Hotspur up front and Bellend in the middle.

I would if I was him.

When Tommy says you're a last 15 minutes player, that would be enough for me to say bollocks, and count my Saudi cash from my Riyadh penthouse rather than freeze my nuts off in an away WC qualifier.

There was a guy in an England shirt this morning at the hotel pool talking about the game, with an Essex accent. I really hope he’s a rag and still put on the national team shirt as it was less embarrassing.

My wife said “England are playing”. I said “I know and they’ve made a cracking start”. But it says it doesn’t start until 8”. “I was meaning cricket which I am watching on Sky on the iPad”. The cricket was far more entertaining than the football, just as one-sided but the players cared and the crowd atmosphere was brilliant, none of which could be said about the England performance at the City Ground.

We will see but the signs are ominous for England. Same old shit, get rid of a manager who was getting us places, get bored with his style, replace with 3 or 4 failing managers over the next few years. Hopefully the football will be more exciting at least.
But lets see, it was only a friendly tbh, mixed bag of players. As long as we get to the cup competitions. And Tuchel might know what he is doing.

Tuchel has done really well - to make England shitter than under Sir Beard in such a short space of time is impressive

No England manager will ever please, no one. Only possible light relief is if we win a world cup even then it would be through gritted teeth or silent till we next lose a match.

I said on here loads of times Southgate did a much better job than a lot of people gave him credit for.

They could start by simply getting the basics right.

After starting the Euros last summer with 3 right backs in the team with no left back, I thought Tuchel would at least come in and organise a team but then away at Andorra on Saturday, he's got a midfielder at right back and a right back at left back. He's got a 35 year old in midfield and a striker in the squad who he admits to not having seen play so brings him on with 2 minutes to go in a friendly against Senegal.

But all of this is a waste of my time Sparky because you won't discuss the England team. You'll never admit that anything was a strange thing for an England manager to do. You only come onto the England threads to remind us that we're all moaners and are never happy and that you're right.

Agreed. He'd make a great manager for the rags.

You joke, but he actually would’ve done a better job than the string of clowns they’ve hired so far.

He’s obviously not the best tactician in the world but Southgate is a very good man manager, as we’re seeing now with England all the old cliques and fuckwittery rising to the surface.

They fell short yes, but Southgate’s England side was at least a *team*. The scum could do with a bit of that.

They’re both throw away games and just giving some game time to some players. Nothing more.

Group stages and major tournaments is the time to criticise tactics and starting line ups
