England v Senegal - Tue 10th June '25, 19:45 | Friendly

I said on here loads of times Southgate did a much better job than a lot of people gave him credit for.
Same here. He took us quite far when you consider our record. A lot of people hated him though, his style, his waistcoats, his persona, his football.

Shame, we were doing quite well.

But let's see. Once the media have hounded tuchel out we might get someone better. Might.

Does any England Manager ever get to pick the squad or team ? The FA are under orders from clubs and Agents to pick their players. Liverpool United back in the 80s and 90s even up to the 2000s if you were an English player at those clubs you were picked,

England and the FA need a revamp at all levels, We need a DNA of how we want to play and have players who are playing well and on form, Forget the likes of Kane's and Bellingham's name already on the team sheet because the image and demand from agents and playing well 2 seasons ago

I want a Manager with the balls to say to the FA I want this player and the team playing my way

They could start by simply getting the basics right.

After starting the Euros last summer with 3 right backs in the team with no left back, I thought Tuchel would at least come in and organise a team but then away at Andorra on Saturday, he's got a midfielder at right back and a right back at left back. He's got a 35 year old in midfield and a striker in the squad who he admits to not having seen play so brings him on with 2 minutes to go in a friendly against Senegal.

But all of this is a waste of my time Sparky because you won't discuss the England team. You'll never admit that anything was a strange thing for an England manager to do. You only come onto the England threads to remind us that we're all moaners and are never happy and that you're right.
It's only a friendly mate. It's not like they should practice winning or owt. I mean, what would be the point in that ?

What manager would not play Bellingham or Kane ?

So give the tickets out for free or next to nothing, like a £5

I don't believe in friendly games in the modern game, Why are England playing a friendly game after a World Cup qualifier out of season ???? Don't we have the Uefa nation league, Uefa Euros's, World Cup?

What is the point ??? Players are owned by their league clubs and 100% should have the right to say NO

That's a fair point well made. We wouldn't want to go down the road of building momentum and a winning mentality now, would we?

I'll go and have a lie down and ponder what on earth I was thinking. ;)

What manager would not play Bellingham or Kane ?
Most of them. Kane has been struggling since the last World Cup. Sure, he'll rattle up the goals in matches at Andorra and at home to Senegal but we saw with our own eyes how much more dynamic we became after he was replaced by Ollie Watkins against Holland last summer.

He was just recently awarded with Bundesliga Player Of The Season and the highest scorer in the league, he's a phenomenal striker - no manger would drop him for Watkins.

Ha, just seen this result.

Didn't watch it after nearly falling into a coma while watching the Andorra game.

If I was a betting man I'd defo have backed Senegal after that Andorra performance, utter dross that game was but replace one defensive manager with another and it's what we get, unmotivated players sick of hearing the same type of game plan.

It's not even necessarily Tuchel's fault if he had Southgate's last four years he may have done better, however these defensive ideas with a squad of mostly attacking players goes against their natural game.

Stupidity at its finest.

This England team is perfect for attacking football and a high press, they'd rather hire anti football park the bus merchants.

Southgate should've been sacked at the very latest after losing to Italy, for a more attacking manager it's wasting potential playing the way the national team does.

You make a big deal about harmony in the squad. How do you get that when certain players get preferential treatment? Harry Hotspur picked for every match, especially against weak opposition so he can boost his tally. Great if you're called Ollie Watkins or Ivan Toney.
Every midfielder shunted to somewhere else to accommodate the preening narcissist that is Bellend.
Pickford a shoe-in for keeper and no-one else gets real experience.
Tommy Turtle has topped it by all bringing Henderson back though. Maybe Beckham could get another cap to celebrate his knighthood.

Didn't watch the second half, but how Tuchel has gone back to some of the older players who are past it should worry them. Who appointed Tuchel? He has a history of picking older players! Better off sacking him now because he will do nought.
Tuchel is a fraud. Always has been. Big mistake to appoint him. Very limited tactically.
