Tino Livramento

The sad thing is there’s barely any good HG players.

I was thinking about how insane it is that Newcastle fans want 80-100 mil for him.
Like what happened to the world
If we’re paying stupid money I would get Hakimi then fill the HG quota some other way.
Trafford, MGW or
Aina as a stop gap then find the next amazing RB

We could rationalise the 80 mil and say he could be our Walker and play for the next 10 years. So it makes sense. But it’s still ridiculous.
Livramento still plays for the u21
MGW isn’t even a starter on the NT
Wharton is decent but we already have that position stacked
Eze isn’t needed
Rogers ain’t better than any of our players
Madueke is pointless
Bowen is a bagsman but he’s great for West Ham not sure about us.

You get the picture. Finding our best HG player sounds incredibly hard as you say. Can’t get around overpaying. Just have to hold it and move on
fully agree....there is a real sparsity of top class HG players- look at the state of the national team - its shit. There are very few players at present out of the England squad Id have in our starting 11...baring the odd one like Stones and Foden who are obviously our players....and one of those is barely ever available.

This rule about HG players just makes average players more expensive - how many of the england squad get in any other top national team....maybe Kane at a push, Foden possibly......who else...?

It's not a new thing. England won the World Cup when I was eight weeks old. They have been shite and massively overated ever since. This time next year the media fuckwits will be peddling "It's coming home" bollocks again. Absolutely wank for close on 60 years.

We were respectable under VENABLES and Robson. Otherwise, as you say, not good.

England has plenty of talent imo but it isn't managed correctly imo.

If I was head of the FA I'd forget about international football matches for the most part. Play them as required but not as a primary or sole measure of success.

Instead I'd go full on 80s montage mode with regionalized training camps up and down the country. Have a series of matches against each other and then find a team that works like a well oiled machine.

Today's national football teams are bundled together based on form at one time and the it's a matter of sticking with that regardless of chemistry or recent form because there's no time to experiment.

I'd instead work for years to form core units that work. A bunch of defenders who are water tight. A bunch of attackers who think as one. Etc.

I'd also concentrate on a identity that leads to success. Forget tiktok and social media. Forget partying. Forget club rivalries. Firget individuality. First first is England. Always. And if not someone else is in regardless of talent. These guys should be like angels/assassins.

I'd also concentrate on an identity in terms of football style. England has some of the best footballing academies in the world so they have players with great coaching. But they arent coming from the gettos so theres not the same raw talent as other places. They are no longer long ball merchants but they can be physically strong due to extreme fitness tgat comes from training since very very young. So concentrate on merging these strong, fast, skillful, intelligent traits together.

However as I'm irish I don't really mind England continuing to think they're great but really they have no hope as its just a bunch of social media kids cobbled together every few years.

Unless Newcastle have issues with PSR, and need to sell (and I don't recall reading anything), I can't see any reason why they'd sell to a rival club. Unless a crazy offer comes in, and we've shown with Rice and Wirtz that we won't pay more than what we think a player is worth.

Maybe the player wants to move?

Ive always said that in this country we build these players up (especially the media) and they aint that good...

Look at the supposed golden generation...Scholes, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard and the rest of them - what did they ever win internationally - nothing! They were massively inferior to other national teams and got shown up every tournament.
The likes of Grealish, Maguire, Bellingham and lots of others now have had the same treatment. ...and none of them are that good.

The way people talk about Grealish now as if Pep stifled and ruined Thierry Henry. The media is a completely biased entity.

The discourse around football is something else.

I can't see it happening either unfortunately. With Walker, Spurs thought they had a better player ready to just step in with Trippier. Newcastle don't have that.

They've apparently been in contact with AM about Molina.

Newcastle need fullbacks even if livaramento is staying, trippier is 34 and their cover for hall at left back is either livramento or burn. They could sign 1 or potentially even 2 fullbacks without having any intention of letting him go

yup they need a CB and a LB. They won’t give up Livramento to open up another problem

I make it 18 of our current squad being not either homegrown or under 21 (born after 1 Jan 2004). However, when you go to the Champions League, there are four more players who haven't been at the club long enough to count as under 21 even though they do in the Premier League (Khusanov, Reis, Savinho and Echeverri). The limit for both competitions is 17, so we already need to lose someone.
Turns out I'm full of shit. We currently have 17 players, so we don't need to lose anyone. Counted Bettinelli in the non-homegrown list even though I knew he was brought in especially to be a homegrown third choice. But I guess the point still stands that we can no longer being in Cambiaso even if we wanted to without losing someone.

d none of them are that good.
And none of them are that bright, rich yes, bright no. That is the reason they were and are no good internationally. European players wipe the floor with them when the going gets tough. They are pampered, given everything before some are thrown on the scrapheap and the ones that make it, professionally, mostly are brainless rich idiots. Walker and Grealish are a prime example of this, they have everything but do not realise it.
Blimey one Guinness and I am ranting, better give the whiskey chaser a miss;-)

We plan around the champions league, we aren't gonna NOT register Savinho and Khusanov for the Champions League, so we have 19 players
