Wouldn't be a peep out of them if it was Liverpool and United who qualified, and not City and Chelsea.
Hell they still get "solidarity payments" from uefa for supposedly making the champions league what it is today, literally guaranteeing them champions league money regardless of whether they qualify or not. Imagine if we win this thing, it takes off, and FIFA decide to do something similar for us, gifting us a nice few million. There'd not be enough chamber pots in the world to contain the Beeb's fury.
City are seen as an easy hit, a box to bash that everyone can get on board with. It's city, right? Got to be something bad there, no smoke without fire, just ignore the facts you don't like because they're probably manipulated or something. Whilst your average fan probably falls back to a position of assuming what they hear has some merit if it's on the BBC, you then get the lunatics at rival clubs who are akin to the flat earthers of this world, and when the lunatics are running the asylum outlets and pieces such as this fuel the fire.
I do hope that, if the charges go as I expect and we prevail, the thing that we can take out of it is that at least the official outlets, such as the BBC who supposedly sign up to a journalistic code or conduct, are made very well aware of what the facts are and are put on watch as to their future choices. Imo this should, if we're successful, be the message from both city and the premier league - it's done, accept the situation, be careful to speculate without fact, and stop fuelling the fire or your privileges within football will be reviewed.
