Sometimes buying cheaper doesn't necessarily mean they're not as good. We spent 100 million on Grealish when Kravatskhelia went for 40 million less and is a much better player. Florian Wirtz is different as he's obviously a top class player, and ahead of Cherki in his career at this stage, but I don't feel like both players are 100 million apart. Infact, Cherki has actually impressed me far more than Wirtz.

We are also in a very different spot to Liverpool now and needed a rebuild. Buying one player for the price Leverkusen wanted would have narrowed our options elsewhere especially with the cost ratio cap rule coming into play next season.

They're potentially very good players who could help win us major trophies like Doku and Savinho can (I know some will disagree). Who'd have thought Vitinha who couldn't get into the Wolves team, Doue who came from Rennes, Dembele who flopped at Barcelona would be Champions League winners. It's not about certain individuals, it's about a team/the manager like PSG was with Luis Enrique. We have the best manager on the planet.

Very true, KDB earned his money based on his hard earned reputation, was more proven than Wirtz. Probably why Wirtz is getting 200k basic, rising to 250k with bonuses.

Pep and Viana could have done £100m +£16m add ons, and up to £250k a week, alongside the other signings minus Cherki. Just shows up that obvious PR about pulling out for financial reasons. Especially considering Ait-Nouri and Reijnders were such good value.

Guessing they may well factor in a significant pay rise after 1 season when Salah probably leaves and frees up more money.

Striker bonuses used to be score a goal get a bonus so when they say 200k + bonuses unless we know what they for we won’t know his true wages!

Could be team wins
He scores
He has an assist
Team win a trophy
Win the league
Play a certain amount of games!

This “+Bonuses” can mask true wages that goes for all teams that have bonuses for players..

The €136m (£117m) is inclusive of add-ons but does not include some other factors that would eventually take the deal to hit the €150m (£127m) figure, which Bayer Leverkusen have been insistent on all this time.

In fairness the dips had to spend £100m on the famous vapour stadium in Stanley Park, it was fully equipped with big vapour screens at each end of the ground. Unlike the tatty old shithole with seats facing walls at Klanfield.
