Kinky, Anelka, Benarbia the best players.
David White, SWP and Uwe my favourites.

My post was in response to another on how the Tevez signing meant the end of IrelandTevez was a huge upgrade on Ireland.
Dunne was a great defender of that there is no doubt but I always thought and still do that Distin was far better. Very elegant and a class centre back.Richard Dunne, the Dunnie Monster.

All in all, that's pretty much the team I would pick too.Corrigan

Definitely. I was gutted when he left to go to Portsmouth who that time were seen as a better prospect than us. Oh how the tables turned. They complemented each other really well

If think it was more to do with the owner of pompey basically pulling their pants down . They have never recovered after that owner. I think he was also looking at investing in city around that time. But for the grace of god.Was Pompey not the actual excuse used for FFP so they could go after us and other clubs gate crashing the cartel.
They offered crazy wages to James, Distin etc
They complemented each other really well
Great shout. One of those players like Lakey, who just glided around the pitch.Clive Wilson was a joy to watch at a time when we didn't have much else.
We had loads of good players. Distin, Lakey, Paul Stewart, Anelka, Flitcroft, Curly Wurly, Dunney, David White, The Goat, Coton, Quinninho, Uwe, SWP, Benarbia, Petrov, all top class. I don't know about the 'best', but the morale sapping disappointment of getting to Maine Road on a match day and finding out that Kinkladze was out injured though, was unlike that for any other player, past or present. He may have been a dilettante compared to someone like David Silva, but (partly) because he was surrounded by absolute dross most of the time, he shone like the brightest star in Christendom
