Been keeping up to date with the Lancashire scorecard, I've spent the whole 3 days thinking that J Denly for Kent is Joe Denly. Turns out it's his nephew

First ever test match where a team scored five centuries and lost. I thought the toss decision was daft, turns out it was me who’s daft
It was daft because twice India’s mid to lower order capitulated which essentially gave England the match.
The Indian back up bowling was also poor - they are a side trying to get through a transition and given Bumrah apparently only plays 2 more tests then I see them struggling.
England though are superb at these run chases and never ever let the bowlers settle. They make neatly 400 in the final innings look like a walk in the park

You reckon? Okey Dokey. The gloves are off.

;-)
On second thoughts, let’s forget it. :D

In all seriousness, what a great advert for test cricket. I sincerely hope it’s never reduced to four days.

India must be utterly demoralised after losing a match they dominated for large spells. As good as they are, it will be tough for them to come back from such a defeat.

England aren’t the most talented team in cricket but they are the ballseeists

How did India lose this test ? 5 centuries made by their batsman and only 2 centuries by England's batsmen

Crazy test to annualise and break down, when Stokes won the toss and bowled and India put 471 on the board, Nobody gave England a chance, including me, but the guy on skysport hit the nail on the head when he said, the toss and Stokes putting India in won us the game by batting last

Watched it on and off this afternoon, some very impressive batting from Lancs, score very quickly too (finally), it's given them a chance to win a game.

Well done England too.

Centuries aren't everything, some of their batsmen didn't score at all. Only 5 (6 including extras) made double figures in the first innings, same in second innings, only 4 across both innings didn't make double figures for England.

I won't be holding my breath unfortunately, it's an incredibly flat wicket. I'd be very surprised if Lancs are able to take 10 wickets in 1 day.

When you're 430/3 in your first innings, you really shouldn't be losing the game. To only get 471 in that innings was hugely short; they must have been looking at 600. That allowed England back in the game.
If you look at both innings, the depleted attack severely restricted the Indian lower order and that made a big difference. A weakness in India?

I must say, I thought putting them in was bonkers. Yeah, there is a history at Headingley but it has been basking in warm sunshine for weeks and had very little rain. Stokes, though, has a plan that suits the side.

Think I saw a stat saying that India's 1st innings was the first in a Test Match in England to include three centuries and three ducks

this is a good shout
Also weakness in India's bowling options, hoping for Bumrah to do the damage is not going to win enough games in england, India getting 471 in the first innings with only Bumrah to scare the English batsman.

England are 2 fast bowlers away from being a very good team with a chance of winning the ashes. if we can get Wood and Archer fully fit and able to play 3 or 4 test in a row, then we have a great chance.

If you annualise and break down this test match, things like that stat will puzzle your mind
Even winning the toss and choosing to field on a flat wicket on a warm sunny day had eyebrows raised.

Why are people questioning the 5-day test match system ? What do they want ?
A 5-day test match should never be tampered with, What's next bringing back the eight-ball overs

Holy shit that's positive. Are you feeling ok ?
