Holy smokes!!!

I was watching the City game.. didn't realize the Indian gals didn't choke up/ bottle it for once..

They beat South Africa in the World Cup final!

Fully expected them to lose as they lost to all the big teams this tournament..

Can't get my head round it. Happy for Jemimah.. she won me over as a fan with her semi final performance!

Well done gals!

Wasn't watching it, but it seems fairly comfortable in the end (52 runs). Well done to them, they've had their share of hard luck stories.

Yeah if you notice my posts recently.. I've been making fun of their bowling which I felt was nowhere near good enough to win the tournament.

Apparently they learned from getting spanked in the league group phase and peaked at the right time.

Their adjustment is also interesting.. they dropped their #3 batter to go with another bowler and bowled out both Australia and South Africa.

Simply incredible.. stuff you would not script or would be mad for even considering thinking.. I mean seriously who drops their #3 batter??

That'd be like the men dropping Joe Root, or Indian team dropping Kohli. Insanity!

Australia have announced the oldest Ashes squad in history. Average age is 33 and only ONE player under 30

Think it's been blown out of proportion though. It's a squad for the first test. If they need to freshen it up and bring new faces in they can. Makes sense to use the experience and try and get 3-0 up before bringing in younger guys to get some Ashes experience under their belts before their next trip here. Not sure why 30 is being used as the benchmark for "old" these days anyway. 6 of England's likely 11 for the first test will be over 30. Test cricket has never really been a young man's game.

Only fast bowlers are affected by age. Spinners and batters often at their best post 30. And Sir Jimmy is still playing!

If England had a world class spinner would beat them comfortably.

Alas we don’t so I think it will be a close run series.

Wait a min.. don't you have a ton of spinners?

I remember your test team vs India and there was a tall guy who got a few wickets. Then there's the bearded guy.

All out of form/ injured??

Tom Hartley? Doesn’t get picked that often for Lancashire. Only played in that test series for England.

We’ve got Bashir too, who’s tall, but he’s not world class.

Yeah that's his name Bashir.

With his height.. the torque on the ball for spinning must be insane.. if he's not world class.. that's a shame because you really couldn't ask for a better body for a spinner.

We’re persevering with him to see how he develops. He’s only 22, so the hope is that he improves with experience. He was fast tracked into the test squad, without having much first class experience at all.

He’s got 68 wickets @ 39 in 19 matches.

Hopefully he takes 40 convict wickets!
