I did say IF we can get Archer and Wood fully fit

This is the last chance for Archer to actually get fit for a five-day Test match and think his eye is on the Australian series. But I’ll be shocked if Archer plays two Test matches on the run; his history tells you he won’t! Bowling a few overs in county cricket is totally different from Test match cricket!

England are 2 fast bowlers away from being a very good team with a chance of winning the ashes. if we can get Wood and Archer fully fit and able to play 3 or 4 test in a row, then we have a great chance.
We've still got Atkinson to come back as well, who walks into this side as far as I'm concerned.

What happened to Ollie Robinson, he seems to have vanished into thin air, he looked really promising

In a long list of stupid comments this is a doozy. I actually saw it come through as it was posted on the live commentary and it was already getting plenty of thumbs downs. But 17000 is actually impressive!

I know it's hindsight BUT that last hour, yesterday, was pivotal.
India were in charge but that little spell from Tongue stopped them dictating the test. We had a target and then reaching the close none down was key.

I doubt he plays in any of the 4 test that are left, so you don't take him if he doesn't play any test cricket before the ashes, maybe let him play country cricket for now and see if there is any reaction to his fitness, then in the last 2 test give him a chance, he's been bowling at 90mph in his return

For me i would want Pope gone.
Atkinson and Potts in rotate with Wood and Archer.
Jamie Smith moved up the order best young player ive seen for a long time.Head is so still when the ball is delivered.

They don't bowl enough that's why they can't stay fit. What is it Archers first County game for four years, the game he's currently playing in for Sussex? Absolutely ridiculous.

They all want to ponce about around the world bowling 4 overs twice a week, no wonder they break down as soon as they have to put some graft in. Their bodies are conditioned for fast bowling.

Agreed. And its conditioned to bowling to limited overs who will or have to take you on. Bowling in the channel and on a length for a whole spell during a session is an art that had been lost. Bowling fast is great. Bowling fast tactically for 3 x 9 over spells in a day is different

Spot on. I don't remember English test bowlers breaking down in the past like they do now. The bowlers in those days used to play for their County in between test matches as well, they were proper bowling fit, not wrapped in cotton wool.

For me it's like asking pro footballers to get fit for the 11 a side game by playing the occasional 5 a side game abroad because there's more money in it.

this is a good shout
Also weakness in India's bowling options, hoping for Bumrah to do the damage is not going to win enough games in england, India getting 471 in the first innings with only Bumrah to scare the English batsman.

That’s a big ‘if’.

The way Stokes kept talking about Josh Tongue I expect him to play most of these test matches and in the future plans! Him cleaning up the tail makes him undroppable

A pathetic comment that makes no sense whatsoever. Nothing wrong with constructive criticisim of the Bazball approach but what's all this shite about arrogance? It's not arrogant to have confidence and belief that you can chase down targets in 80-odd overs that were previously nigh on unachievable in test cricket, barring the very odd exception such as the Windies getting 344/1 against England in just over 66 overs to win a test match at Lords in 1984 of course!

Yup, Smith is a real find in all formats. He’s a good example of the meticulous approach the England coaches etc now have towards appraising the talent available.
Not sure about dropping the Pontiff after his performance in this Test, although there are others knocking on the door.
