Club World Cup - Summer 2025

Mr Trump said "What you all on about, this is the greatest, biggest and best tournament the world has ever seen.Bigger than you could have imagined."
Well if he hasn't said it yet he soon will.

For the moment, I think the Club World Cup is regenerating City. We worried about over-training our players especially after the injuries we had last season, however, I look at City now, and I think I the team is growing again especially players like Doku and Nunes. Imagine too you are Rodri and you haven't been able to play and compete for 6 months, and then suddenly you are back centre stage. Pep will be is in his element with the players available to him 24/7. It is his food and drink. Pep will ensure that the vibes in the squad are good. Everything feels good on the back of winning but one defeat and it is all over.

I't's smaller than it was before Trump.

If Manchester City win the tournament they would land about £92m in total - but Chelsea would earn slightly less.
The potential prize money was initially reported as £97m but the exchange rate between US dollars and British pounds has changed since then.

Changes every minute of the day but the general trend has been down for 5.5 months so depends when it is paid.

The circular with details on payments to the clubs isn't public, but if paid on completion of the tournament it is likely to be even less.

The maximum this minute is
$125.815m * 0.72884 = £91.6990046m

I doubt it will still be £4.60 at the end now, and I reckon about $90m around the final.

Love the comments
Another distorted biased story from the BBC complete with a pile on from the online bigots. A great use of taxpayers money. The headline is totally false as well. We are paying for this year’s transfers from last year’s profit and will not have a penny of income from the CWC yet.

I would imagine the revenue generated, particularly should we win it, will see renewed focus on winning the Champions League again. If having won it in the previous 4 years continues to dictate invitations, then the domestic cup competitions will unfortunately have to be deprioritised further.
Does anyone know if winning the CWC automatically guarantees an invitation to defend it?

100%
This will refresh the club, also if you include Bob,
we have so many class players, the best squad I've ever seen.

No, winners do not automatically qualify.
I think we will be battling it out with liverpool and arsenal for a higher placing in the champions league.
We are currently behind them in the coefficient ranking due to our poor performance in last champions league.

It doesn't use that @Carlos- the- jackal

The column on the left is correct, but only CL points from 2024/25 count so far so we 4th in England with half those of Villa, Arsenal, Liverpool although we know villa can't get any points next season.

City are joint 20th in the points table to qualify overall, so no where near even if there wasn't 2 team per country limit.

Arsenal have a better CL coefficient than us? Cunts don’t qualify for it most seasons

But aren't they already talking about raising it to 48 teams next time? So some of the big guns, who apparently have no interest in this, can force their way in.

They can’t wait to shoehorn the cunts in!
No ones watching, but everyone knows attendances, who’s playing who etc…
Fucking curtain twitchers!

The criteria has been set. Unless a certain club wins it in 2027 or 2028 they will no qualify not matter how much they change the rules.

Add 8 European teams an a max of 4 each country for the 48, they still won't get there starting on zero in for 2026/27. The damage has been done, and City need to improve a lot to have a chance too.

Like Rodri, Foden, Stones and Walker last season getting to the Euros final in 2024.

Rodri was vocal about being overplayed then 2 weeks later he was out for the season after a couple of games. The other 3 in the final have suffered form loss, injuries and decline.

The outfield player who played the most last season has already broken down. The players will get 3 weeks off and only 1 week to train for next season, which is a disadvantage compared to 18 others, and even Chelsea have a chance of getting 2 weeks on us.

How many City players were overplayed last season? Gvardiol, Bernardo and who else?

Dias missed many games through injuries in the first half of last season, as did most our defenders in the second half, Gvardiol aside.

Rodri didn't play, Kovacic had injuries and isn't playing in the CWC. Doubt Reijnders and Cherki are too tired. Gonzales isn't playing. Haaland missed two months and needs games to find form, Foden as well. Doku and Savinho haven't been overplayed either. Bobb needs games, etc.

This tournament has a lot more upsides than downsides for City specifically. A lot of players need minutes except for Gvardiol, Bernie and Dias.
