14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

What on earth was the point in this signing?

He’ll barely get a look in all season before a cheap sale or loan where we pay half his wages.

The disjoint between the signings made and Pep is staggering. Feel like half the players we buy he immediately writes off as shite and we’re stuck with them.

And in fairness the lad has looked good whenever he’s played. Bizarre

He will be loaned out by end of the window. It’s obvious pep doesn’t rate him

The longer it goes on like this the more I feel the January signings were entirely club-led and not Pep-led. Pep seems far from convinced. Only Marmoush is being trusted to play meaningful minutes. Anyone who thinks Pep rates Nico G has their head in the sand.

If he's not staying, then he either needs to be sold or used as a makeweight in another deal.
I agree. But he is unlikely to want to take a wage cut so a bit like grealish and Phillips we are stuck with them

Pep benched Rodri in the CL final because of a recurrent mistake to retain the ball

I think the same rule has been applying to Nico now

Even though Nico is fitter and wasn't absent for almost a year, Pep relied on less than half fit/inform Rodri ahead of him !!!

Time to move him on. I did expect Pep to give him more of a chance to stake his claim but looks like he doesn't really rate him. Disappointed as he does have ability.

Yeah let's splash 60 million on a guy and immediately discard him, didn't realise we've become the rags.

He hasn’t had many opportunities, granted, but he always strikes me as being unbalanced when he’s receiving the ball and that’s why he’s prone to losing possession.

It seems that Guardiola would rather play 3 or4 different players in that position before Gonzalez.
Phillips, Nunes, and now Gonzalez, it's starting to become a problem now.

Weird as fuck signing because we just don't play him. Weirder than Khusanov. Make it make sense!!

The thing that I've noticed about Gonzalez is that he likes to invite a tackle, he may have got away with it the past but he's been robbed 2 or 3 times doing this whilst at City.

Maybe that’s why Pep isn’t picking him. But surely the scouts and Pep must have known how he plays before buying him?

He has to be a better option than Gundogan or playing Lewis in midfield.

We were crying out for a midfielder in January and we waited until deadline day to pay his release clause; a signing we could in theory have done on January 1st had we wanted.

Suggests to me that he wasn’t the player we wanted in January and Guardiola doesn’t exactly appear keen to play him.
With every game I’m starting to think that maybe pep is not getting it right atm it’s like when j head this pep sees them in training so they may not be performing. Well he is definitely seeing things in trainingt hat nobody is seeing because this style of football is done and if we carry on next season playing the sane then we will be done by Christmas and Liverpool will walk it .
