My point is there is no conclusive evidence on either side because we are looking into the future. How Baconface evolved and adapted has zero bearing on Pep, who is currently showing some reluctance. One side has it wrong: you can't say he's past it purely on the basis of one season. The evidence is not enough to draw such a conclusion, especially given the context: a somewhat tired team (4 titles in a row!), aging players and many injuries.
On that logic, Ferguson was past it in 2004, 3 years before his next PL title. Obviously, he wasn't, even though United were relatively poor for several years. And it's not like Pep has been underwhelming for 3 years now. We are 2 years after the Treble, one year after 4 in a row, and less than one year since going 26 games unbeaten in Europe...
Time will tell. Right now it's premature to argue Pep is past it.
Only time will tell. In the meantime it’s entirely a matter of opinions.
