Tino Livramento

Can't say I know how deep Newcastle's squad is but if they need more depth I could see how it might interest them. I 100% don't think that'll happen (maybe McAtee on a standalone deal), but you never know.
Yes,just from paper talk I've seen they seem to have their targets that they are linked to and none of them are our players. Obviously just media rumours but think any deal if they did want any of our players would be stand alone and after any deal for Livramento was done.

He's 22 so if he does sign it's not going to be just for a couple of years - it'd be a 5/6 year deal no doubt.

Yes he has room for improvement but the potential is there, he might not be a ready made/finished article signing but he's certainly the outstanding candidate in a pool of very few in his position.

He has Premier League, Champions League and international experience and is homegrown, also has good pedigree having come through at Chelsea.

We may take the risk in paying a larger fee now but it could prove good business down the line - even if it didn't work out with us after a few years there would still be resale value given his age and home grown status.

When you break it down rather than just looking at it face value it makes sense.
He is not the second coming. He is decent but too expensive for what he current can bring (just potential at the minute) and we could have easily beaten Newcastle if we were really interested when he moved from Southampton. Bide our time and find better. We can ride things out for this season.

We can ride things out for this season.

We rode things out last season without replacing Alvarez. That lasted until January.

We rode things out last season with a bunch of injury prone centre backs. That lasted until January.

We rode things out last season with a rapidly ageing Kyle Walker. He lasted until January.

Khaldoon acknowledged we weren't proactive enough. Let's not slip back into that after an excellent start to the summer.

We need to learn from our mistakes and deal with out problems before they derail another campaign.
But rushing to bring a RB is just as an counter productive exercise too. Nunes is showing he is capable and along with the two new coaches working with him looks like he can really kick on.

Fucking hell this thread has become dull.

Have there been any links in the last few weeks? Feels like Livramento to City isn't really a thing.
If anything is going to happen the it won’t be until he returns from his holiday I’m sure he is on after the U21 Euros and we won’t be pushing Newcastle as they go about their attempts at signings No great rush for a couple of weeks City will know the player’s thoughts and have a good idea of what Newcastle’s is

£80 million is almost what we would have to pay for Hakimi and more than we would pay for Dumfries.

In this day in age you have to pay for potential. I'd also argue he's a better player currently than Nunes at right back even before he reaches his maximum potential.

Nunes is not a long term solution and never will be, as well as he did toward the end of last season if wer'e relying on him to help us solidify our flimsy looking backline going forward we won't get anywhere near our previous levels. He simply doesn't have the defensive instinct or brain to play there at the top top level.

I just don’t understand why guys are rating him so highly, haven’t seen anything in him as to why someone would pay so much money for him… sorry to burst your bubble guys but he’s definitely overrated
He’s a brilliant right back and only 22. Doubt we’ll get him but if you do you’ll realise how good this lad is.

I think he's decent, but nothing special. Was left out the England squad in the recent games as the manager knew he'd not play and thought it'd be more beneficial get tournament experience with U21s. So essentially you'd be paying a fortune for England's 3/4th choice RB.

Here here, no more square pegs in round holes no more aged players past there best being kept due to sentiment, no more younger players which aren’t good enough blocking the path of other younger players. I’m not gonna give examples but everyone knows who they are. We need to be more ruthless if we want to carry on winning trophies

Newcastle first XI is pretty solid, they can compete with any team in the league, but their depth is shocking

Pope
Livramento Botman Burn Hall
Joelinton Tonali Bruno.G
Murphy Isak Gordon

Bench:
Dubravka, Schar, Frafth, Targett, Trippier, Willock, Longstaff, Barnes.... that's kind of it, huge drop off from the first XI

Kyle Walker was an above average RB that we overpaid for according to most at the time.
Before we bought Walker he...
- Was chosen in 16/17 team of the season - - Won young player of the season in 2012 (beating Aguero and Sturridge)
- Had 180 Premier league appearances

He was comfortably the best RB in the league, not the best HG RB in the league but the best

Its not really comparable to Livramento who's not as established

He was left out because we were playing a pub side and so he could play in an actual tournament. Anyone who genuinely thinks Kyle Walker is still a better fullback than this lad must be clueless
