Last Film You Saw

Infinity Pool.

Has to be one of the most fucked up films I've ever seen.

It drew me in and never let go, it's utter madness.

Not one for the faint-hearted, that's for sure.

Strange Darling (2024) just started on Sky Premiere HD (UK)

Just saw the new Jurassic World. Bit gutted the lovely Dallas Brice Howard is no more, but Scarlett Johansson is a more than acceptable replacement.
If you basically forget about all the old films and treat it for what it is, I thought wasn’t bad. Came across to me as a kinda Jurassic Park x Indiana Jones x Alien mashup.

We are off to watch it at Marple cinema in a few weeks, only £5.50 a ticket looking forward to this one.

One relative pointed out that there was too much CGI in it to which I told him the director should have used more live action shots of real dinosaurs :)

Jurassic World Rebirth.

Just awful. I really don't understand what they were even trying to do? The script is terrible, there's barely any moments of tension and in some parts the CGI is appalling.

Amazed that Gareth Edwards who's done Rogue One and Godzilla has turned out such slop like this.

I've no idea where they go with this franchise in the future but I really hope they leave behind the new hybrid or genetically enhanced shite. They should be leaning far more into tension IMO.

I understand dinosaurs are difficult to train.

Warfare. Was impressed by this, not as good as Black Hawk Down but in a similar vein. Puts you right in the middle of the action. If you like a strong narrative then this film isn't for you, the characters are almost incidental to the action and the tension of the situation, as they try to organise their escape. Pulls no punches, it's a warts and all recreation of a siege situation and not for the faint hearted, quite gory in places.

William Tell.
Hmm. Desperately wants to be a Robin Hood film (well, there's no record that either exists), almost beat by beat story, and a lead actor (Claes Bang) torn between trying to be Gerard Butler and Russell Crowe, and a main villain who's just unhinged. What he manages is Butler's image and Crowe's mumbling. There's a lot of mumbling such that some lines are all but lost.

Oh, and just about everything is historically awful. I expect that the Swiss will hate it as much as Crowe's Robin Hood rubbishness was here.
A middling 5 or 6/10.

Gladiator II
Not as bad as I was expecting, just rather ponderous and a bit muddled, with a couple of quite nice pivots. About a 6, +1 for Gracchus, -1 for Gracchus' story (seriously, he's Derek Jacobi, give him something to do!).

Everything, Everywhere All At Once. Not sure I really understood what was going on but really enjoyed it.

Babylon. Rubbish. Only lasted 45 minutes before switching off

Bring Her Back.

Id heard nothing but good things about this so was looking forward to it.

Incredibly average.
