Tino Livramento

Still could have bought him ahead of Newcastle (especially the rivalry between UAE and Saudi Arabia) and allowed him a season to develop for a decent fee and not for an overinflated one even with the likes of Walker on our books and Lewis as backup.

Could have yeah. We would have all been criticising the deal though if he broke down injured again or was barely used because Pep preferred a different option. He might not have developed as much as he has playing for them.

What valuation? I've not read anywhere Newcastle have put a valuation on Livranento, nor I've I read they are prepared to sell him. I have read that he's said he's happy at Newcastle and he's making no noises saying he's unhappy and wants out. Maybe he's one of those rare players who will remain loyal to his present club despite big money offers from other clubs trying to entice him away for more money. Remember when Madrid and Barca where almost constantly linked to Silva and Aguero? They remained loyal to us when they could have gone for more money better weather and both bigger clubs than us.

If we are serious in wanting him I'm sure Newcastle will offer him a better contract. It's not all about money though, and he's on 50k per week at 22 years old. Won't be long before he triples that at Newcastle, City, or anywhere else. Newcastle are no longer a selling club and could soon start outbidding clubs for top players.
Of course Newcastle will have a valuation for him, the same for all of their players. Just because they don't publish it on twatter doesn't mean they know exactly what value to place on every single player.

Have you seen Newcastle say he's definitely not for sale, or the lad himself say he would never leave (saying he's happy there means nothing ultimately)?

Still wouldn't have been for a ridiculous fee and we aren't averse in buying from a relegated side. It wouldn't have been a high risk transfer.

Has Pep ever had or used a back 4 with left and right backs ? plus the 2 centre backs.
Tino-Livramento is a good player and one of the first names on the team sheet at Newcastle plays every week.
Knowing Pep, we'll go for him, and he'll end up on the bench more times than playing.

Pep sometimes must be on LSD at bedtime and dreams up a plan, when he invents an idea for a fullback playing as a number 10. Normally against Liverpool away

Did in Barcelona and Munich but started his experiments here. Wouldn’t surprise me if Livramento ends up on the bench because he couldn’t invert in minute 26 to 28 and needs to learn the system for 6-12 months = Viana fault for buying him because pep is never wrong

For about 2 months before the first of Mendy's knees gave up. We haven't had a proper left footed left back since then until now, so obviously we now don't have a right back.

He did say after Mendy got injured that he'd had to change the system to accommodate and we've never gone back to it. With Alt-Nouri, there is a chance he could but it needs another attacking fullback, which does make me think Nunes fits the bill. Livramento clearly a better defender, but when did Pep ever bother about stuff like that - as long as we've got the ball, we don't need to defend...

When the wheels fall off, they say revert back to the norm,
Basic football is sometimes the best answer, having a solid back 4 and the other 6 outfield players to work a system

Look, Pep is never going to be a 4.4.2 manager and settle for being hard to beat, Fullbacks or Wingbacks are a tool that Pep looks to use as an attacking option, maybe defending by splitting the centre backs with the holding midfield player gives a great attacking option, but defending when the other team breaks is the major problem.

Pace is needed in the fullback's roles to recover and get back, I used to know a coach who said ? I've never seen a player running faster than the ball, so stick to defending

If Elanga costs the quoted £50+ million, perhaps NUFC need to recoup some cash ?
Selling Livramento would cause less controversy for Eddie Howe, than selling Isyk or Anthony Gordon...
With the way amortisation works they probably won't need to book cash from a sale till next year or the year after which is obviously too late for us

Think the answer probably is no at £65 mill. Also though we know they wouldn’t say no to £165 mill. So question is where would they say yes and would we pay whatever that is. Most likely not.
Yeah, unless Livramento himself pushes for the move then it's hard to see it happening this summer, sadly.

Livramento if he wants to come to city can tell Newcastle he won’t sign any new contract then next year he will have 2 years left on his contract then maybe they Newcastle will sell or even if we get him on a free in a few years he still be younger than Walker when we bought him!
