PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I've no desire to keep this going round in circles but my point about the PL looking for a Masters replacement was purely speculative.

I'm even prepared to accept Stefan's point that the formal outcome isn't yet known although I've never claimed that a document consisting of hundreds of pages is sitting in a locked drawer at the Etihad somewhere. But I'll accept I could be wrong on that and it could be no more than they're pretty certain of the outcome, rather than they know it for sure.

But I'm 100% sticking with the claim that the PL will come out of this very badly indeed when the outcome is known, and whatever they're trying to do to manage that is the reason for the delay.
Even if it was speculative, it's not like a struggling organisation trying to replace a senior figure is an uncommon occurrence. It's also not uncommon for such organisations to do there best to make sure that the shit associated with the departing party is cleared up and shipped off with them, so the new incumbent starts with a cleanish slate.

With City the APT case and the 115 one both have capacity to be seismic events. Would it be advantageous for the PL to have some control over when the outcomes are announced...probably. Is it conceivable that there could also be some advantage for City to have control over when the outcomes are announced...probably.

Does it mean either party have been offered the opportunity to or sought to do some sort of backroom deal probably not, but not impossible, even if we don't have concrete evidence and even if the sources from one person or another say otherwise.

I've enjoyed your speculation and the offering of your albeit limited insider knowledge. I've also enjoyed hearing the convincing counterpoints against it. The detailed information and thoughts you guys provide is what helps us plebs to form our own opinions, we need a bit of to and fro in order to get some balance. Thanks to all of you, keep it coming and be nice, unless your addressing a Rag, Scouser or Tarquin :)

All that was obvious from your original post, matey. I don't know why it's so hard these days for people to understand a messaging without turning it into some binary, with or against, choice. It's always happened in off-topic, of course, but it's happening more and more in the rest of the forum. You can clearly see the posters on here who engage in it. And it's a shame. Society, eh?
I wasn't going to get back involved but this new line from PB is not what started this and as this is an allegation about me (and others) failing to understand his message and failing to follow some kind of societal etiquette, I'll respond again - I promise for the last time.

PB has back tracked.

The original statement was:
"my understanding is that the outcome has been decided for a few months. The PL have requested the delay in publication"

He followed up with statements that this was communicated to the club in March/April.

PB clearly upgraded his historic sense of confidence to a binary - the case is decided and the PL have requested a delay (and City have agreed given the case was decided months ago). It was not expressed that City are merely confident ("pretty certain" in this backtrack) of the outcome. So spare me the comments on society. If PB is now saying the result has not been communicated by the panel and the PL have not asked for months of delay to publication of such a decision, then I agree. It hasn't and they haven't.

So not society, eh. Much more Bluemoon, eh?

Regardless of the eventual verdict, most of our rivals either don't understand the complexity and serious nature of the charges or simply assume that we're guilty anyway, so publication of the verdict won't make much difference.

Yesterday provided the perfect microcosm when I umpired a prestigious junior county cricket match (Derbyshire v South Yorkshire) and was talking to my fellow match official Malcolm Wright.

Malcolm was a Season Ticket holder at Bramall Lane, but was born and bred in Southend, and had attended their recent Wembley defeat to Oldham.

He was a really interesting character, especially when he confided that he also used to be a First Division/Premier League Linesman from 1981-1993

Most of his career had been in the Part Time era so he only tended to officiate at games in the South East. However, he had definitely "run the line" at a couple of City games and was particularly complimentary about Keith Curle's good manners in stark contrast to the Match Officials having to call the Police at Highbury after United's Martin Edwards had stormed into their Changing Room and made all sorts of wild accusations.

Everything was great until literally out of the blue:

"So when are City going to be punished then? It's taking far too long"
"Probably because they're innocent of the really serious stuff"
"It's not fair though when other teams are being fined or relegated"
"Yes, but those teams failed financial regulations. City have been accused of something far more serious"
"Well, it just doesn't wash with me"

So there you have it
We're guilty because it's taken so long and other teams have been punished for something else

Disappointing to read that,

No, not his thoughts on City being punished.

More the fact he was a linesman and not a referee.

He could have been Malcolm in the middle :-)

So Colin’s broke the biggest story in world football and there’s been no leaks of the story in 3 months despite the Panel, City, the Premier League all knowing the outcome, and a recruitment process is underway at the Premier League.

And all of the above directly contradicts Stefan’s source, who I have no idea about, but he seems pretty convinced by.

Sounds legit
Don’t forget we were all informed that Chelsea were fucked with PSR only to pull a fast one and sell hotels to themselves. Football clubs do what they want. You would have said that’s not believable? It was and accepted by the premier. Anyone mentioning that would have been called delusional.

We get of to a flyer next season and the Dippers drop off, then the outcome could be released sooner than we think!
